The Northern Front

For decades, Asja and the clans living within it were subject to Avilonian colonial rule. Naturally, the clans vied for independence, but had no real success. Thus, when Siegesland invaded the “Avilonian” territory, promising Asja’s independence if they were to succeed, many clans sided with the Vironist order. Desperately needing to push against this sudden turn of events, the Avilonian government and the House Collective also promised Asja’s independence should they expel the Sieges forces from their borders.

These assured promises on both sides (which some speculate hold no validity or weight) have turned the Northern front into something of a civil conflict, with clans now fighting against one another despite hoping to achieve the same goal. Compared to the Eastern and Western theaters, the Northern front is a much more mobile war. Guerrilla tactics and insurgent strikes combat the rapid construction of Sieges supply lines which could be used to potentially flank and surround Stevnov’s forces to the south.

Despite the loss of life (numerically speaking) not being as pointlessly catastrophic as places like eastern Paix, the warrior traditions of the Asja clans call for brutal, bloody hand-to-hand combat and the refusal to take prisoners. Every battle is viciously fought to the last breath. It’s not uncommon for the aftermath of a clan battle to involve a jovial feast surrounded by the heads of their enemies mounted on pikes and the rival jarl or commander being strung up and ceremoniously “blood-eagled.”
