Old Qerth The Shattered Planet

It’s a funny thing, the sky. So many of us forget to look up. A constant sea of colours illuminates the skies of Qerth yet most admire it too little. While we remain fixed in our lives, our petty conflicts (which in the overall immensity the universe mean nothing) and our seemingly endless stream of troubles, above us the heavens remain constant. Abiding. Faithful.   Though the loyal roof to our world may also turn on us. Sending an inferno our way and setting the whole sky ablaze. One such event is said to have occurred long ago in a time much different from our own.   Glass ladders gave humans the ability to climb to the top of the world and look over it just like the stars in our sky today. High roads that stood tall and wide above the ground led these ancient peoples to lands far on the other side of the world that would take a man on horseback many a month to trek such a distance. Though this world is gone now.   Some say rocks fell from the sky so great and so fast that the earth rippled in a likeness to that of water. Others speak of it as though it were the wrath of the Gods; punishing humanity for whatever crime fits their faith best. Though some point to a different source of destruction. One that draws elements from both stories. A belief that tells of a star folk. Creatures of a land far from Qerth that came with weapons so superior that even the ancients would tremble to behold.   Nevertheless, those are just stories. Too likely to be fiction than the truth. And what does it matter? Whether the Gods are real or malevolent creatures truly live beyond our world, humanity will continue to wage its petty wars and life will go on as it always has.
