As the Calcians explored the known world, they found themselves face to face with another race of (slightly taller) short people, the Dwarves.

At first contact with the Dwarves, the meetings were tense, but they eventually learned to communicate, and the Dwarves showed them their power. The Power of Enchantment, taking the crystals from their Volcano and making mundane objects do extraordinary things. The secrets were held by a Monastic Order of the Mountain, and as such the Calcians had no choice but to trade for the magical objects. This partnership has continued to this day, leading both peoples to prosperity.
