Elf

While there are many elven sub-races based on adaptation in various biomes, Elf, as a whole, is used to encapsulate the sentient species that originated from Fenwood, where most elves make their home. They are flighty, and well attuned to nature in it's many forms. However, they also know nature is wrathful, and seek to protect the world from the Wrath of The Forest Father in many ways.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Elves are humanoids, with two arms and two legs, with skin tones that vary depending on sub-race. With elegant facial features, two eyes and elongated ears, they stand with pride at every waking moment.

Genetics and Reproduction

They reproduce like all mammals The Maker has created, mating in the wintertime so that the children may be born in the spring to witness the beauty of the world The Forest Father made for them.

Growth Rate & Stages

Elves grow at the same rate of humans, the common scale of mortal growth, but live almost twice as long on average, 200 years. When an elf dies of old age, they scatter into roots, and become a tree that glimmers in the moonlight.

Ecology and Habitats

Optimal environment for Elves is in a land that is well connected to nature. It is said that elves who are born in cities where nature is not prevalent are born cold, and unnatural. For this reason they stay in forests, underground, or in cities that have not shunned nature as the enemy.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Elves are omnivorous, eating both flora and fauna, nature's bounty laid bare for them.

Civilization and Culture

Major Organizations

The Wardens, watchers of nature, who are prepared to defend villages and cities from the dazzling danger of Nature itself.

Common Myths and Legends

Elves believe that The Forest Father created the first Tree, and from that Tree the world was formed, and the elves were formed from the leaves of the Tree and cared from the Tree's world. As time passed the Tree itself fought them, with creatures of bone and wood, and they saw that the Tree had lost it's intelegence. Perhaps it had never had any, creating things at random, like an animalistic broodmother that requires no seed. That it is the seed, and the egg, and that it births more and more complex abominations every day. So, in anguish, they sent their Creator into the Void, and vowed to protect this world they stood on from the Tree's more and more monstrous children.   This tale is different in every sub-race, but the end result is the same.
