Clawfane
Basic Information
Anatomy
The Clawfane are a race of humanoid crab people, with four legs (None of which they are able to balance without,) a hand on one arm, and a rab claw on the other. They also have very crustacean-like heads. They push the boundary of the requirement to be considered "humanoid."
Growth Rate & Stages
- Egg - laid in clutches of 4-10. Take around 7 months to hatch.
- Hatchling - Has the basics of anatomy down, but still figuring out the shell thing. Very easy to hurt in this stage, due to small size in addtion to the lack of shell. Lasts around 40 days.
- Child - finally starting to get big enough to seem human. Child grows rapidly over the next few years from 1 foot to 4.5 feet tall.
- Adolescent - another growth spurt at around 12 years old, finally bringin the clawfane to human size. Sexual maturity is reached around 15.
- Adulthood - from the age of 17, onward, Clawfane are considered fully developed. They can age, but rarely does it affect them much if they take care of themselves well. This stage can last for decades, if not centuries.
Biological Cycle
Clawfane molt their shell once a month to strengthen it and adjust to changes in their body. Bits of their old shell break and flake off harmlessly through their day-to-day activity.
Additional Information
Perception and Sensory Capabilities
They have your typical five senses, though their sense of taste is very basic, and can essentially only tell fish from not-fish. They're also very sensitive to underwater vibrations.
Civilization and Culture
Beauty Ideals
Shell markings are considered beautiful, but rarely occur naturally. Many clawfane will, as a result, attempt to paint on their own shell markings, and associate personal meaning to them.
Gender Ideals
Clawfane hold relatively little care for gender, with even their political and religious roles that require particular genders being flexible for special circumstances.
Average Technological Level
Clawfane have relatively basic technology that they've invented themselves, but are incredibly adept magically.
Scientific Name
Crustacea Sapiens
Lifespan
120 years, but much longer can be attained.
Average Height
6ish feet for males, 6.5 for females.
Body Tint, Colouring and Marking
Shell tint and color varies wildly from clawfane to clawfane, but most are some shade of blue. Shell markings exist, but are exceedingly rare to come by naturally.
