TABLE OF CONTENS in the World Navigation

The Omega Reproductive Cycle ORC or Heat is the primary reproductive and hormonal cycle experienced by Omegas. It is a recurring, multi-phased condition that renders the Omega highly fertile, emotionally sensitive, and physically receptive to bonding and copulation.

The cycle includes distinct behavioral, physiological, and pheromonal changes, which often provoke Rut in nearby Alphas.

Transmission & Vectors

  • Not contagious, but highly influential on others’ behavior
  • Can induce Rut in receptive Alphas
  • Some Omegas experience Heat synchronization with close bonded individuals
  • Triggered or amplified by:
  • Seasonal cycles (Twilight Days on Oikos)
  • Emotional stress or intimacy
  • Strong pheromone exposure from bonded partners

Symptoms

Heat manifests as a powerful blend of physiological, hormonal, sensory, and emotional changes, experienced in distinct waves. While intensity and response vary by Omega subtype and experience, common symptoms include:

Physical Symptoms

  • Elevated body temperature and flushed skin
  • Dilated pupils, tremors, and shallow breathing
  • Full-body pheromone bloom, most intense at:
  • Nape
  • Lower back
  • Inner thighs
  • Increased genital sensitivity and Rosebud protrusion
  • Cramping or aching in the lower abdomen, especially during unrelieved Heat
  • For some: physical discomfort, muscle tension, or pain if sexual release is denied over multiple waves

Neurological & Sensory

  • Heightened sensitivity to touch, sound, and scent
  • Enhanced bonding response to familiar or bonded individuals
  • Mild disorientation or dizziness during Heat Waves
  • Arousal hallucinations (especially during nesting or in sensory isolation)

Emotional / Psychological

  • Cravings for physical intimacy or closeness
  • Emotional lability (neediness, sudden tears, territorial behavior)
  • Shortened patience or overstimulation outside of secure environments
  • Strong drive to nest, isolate, or prepare a safe, enclosed space
  • In rare cases: panic or distress when denied access to preferred partners

An unfulfilled Heat doesn’t just burn — it implodes. Inside skin, under breath, around thought.

Heat Phases

Pre-Heat (1–2 days)

  • Slight temperature rise
  • Increased scent emission
  • Emotional sensitivity
  • Deep craving for touch or intimacy
  • Recognizable only to close partners or scent-trained Betas

Heat Waves (5–7 days total)

  • Occur in 1–2 hour intense bursts, spaced by 5–8 hour resting phases
  • Each wave causes:
  • Heightened arousal
  • Strong pheromone output (can induce Alpha Rut within 3km)
  • Rosebud protrusion
  • Desire for one or multiple partners
  • Rest phases trigger Alpha caretaking instinct and Omega exhaustion

Recovery Phase (2–3 days)

  • If fertilized: hormonal stabilization begins
  • If not fertilized: Omega experiences a shedding of placenta and unfertilized ovum
  • Emotional fragility, cravings for comfort, and high nest-dependency
  • Sometimes includes mild fever, uterine cramping, and deep fatigue

Prevention

Suppression & Management

  • Hormonal suppressants available
  • Used by military Omegas, students, or those in poly households
  • Suppressants reduce Heat to mild pre-Heat symptoms

Cultural Reception

  • Heats are respected, supported, and legally protected
  • Omegas in Heat may enter Nesting Sanctuaries, where partners can be invited under consent protocols
  • Bonded Alphas often prepare Heat plans with partners
  • Heat-specific celebrations exist in rural and fertility-centric communities
