The Fox and Fey

The solitary tavern of Saltskeep, The Fox and Fey spans one large building, previously a warehouse, and is the main meeting point for townsfolk and visitors alike to interact and swap stories, adventures and projects.

Layout

The Fox and Fey exists as one large room where everything is visible to everyone. The main points of interest are the notice board, the kitchen, and the hearth.

The Notice Board

The notice board stands directly opposite the main doorway, though it is a bit far from the door itself on the opposing wall.

The Kitchen

The kitchen is actually in the center of the tavern, surrounding the blazing central hearth. The kitchen is separated from the seating by bars of varying heights for different species' accesibility, with shelving above the bars to hold different containers of drinks and other ingredients.   Behind the bars are some stoves, cabinets, and washbasins, all surrounding the central hearth.

The Hearth

The hearth is the central point of the entire building, and is always lit and maintained. The fire from the hearth releases no smoke, except for when offerings are made to the gods from small portions of meals. The smoke can be interpreted as a warning of bad fortune for the person the meal is intended for, more concerning the more opaque it appears.

People

The tavern is bustling with people of all species, classes, and demeanors. Here are a few worth noting.

Employees

The Fox and Fey is owned and operated by Janet Sunderland, an even-keeled yet firm human woman in her early 40s. She's been in this town a long time, and worked hard for her reputation as the go-to mediator for any and all conflicts in Saltskeep. She is a devout worshipper of Hestia and has sworn off romantic relationships, much to the chagrin of some who meet her.

Regulars

Michthil "Mitch" Keyric, the head guard of the community watch, often starts and ends his days in The Fox and Fey by checking in on everyone. Eventually Janet forces the half-elf man to "stop doing your rounds and eat some damn food" and sits him at the bar where she can ensure he actually eats.   Mercury Jesterdale, a satyr who stocks the bar and drains it in the same week. He is the resident alcohol enthusiast and businessman, and grows and produces his own wine and beer.
