Session #24 Recap

Date: Flocktime 7-13   An Adventuring Guild went off to the Temple of Elemental Evil with the goal of overcoming the Earth Elementals to get a treasure chest and potentially to go raiding a lower floor in the name of the Earth element. Garret elected to not join the party in order to help a local farmer, met in a previous adventure, get his crops and farm moving along after raiding gnolls stole all his livestock. As a solid replacement, new party member joined the Guild for their first mission! Stu Pittman, the chipper and friendly human! Along the way to the Temple, the party saw a familiar face yet again! Yllvetica offered her a goodberry, which she took, and Sir Rob went for gold and asked the foxy lady what her name was; a question of which she did not answer. As the group was nearing the Temple, the party saw a few Gnolls hanging out outside. Yllvetica, against Nuwl’s recommendations, attempted to parley and communicate but there appeared to be an implacable language barrier that only an unwilling Nuwl could breach. Unfortunately, his past was too strong and leaving witnesses & danger outside with our beloved oxen wagon while the party explores the temple was not an option. Vines and plants burst from the ground and held the gnolls still while various party members shot them down from afar. After this battle, the party decided to rest for the night and make their run at the Temple in the morning, as it was getting late.   At nearly first light while everyone was sleeping and Sir Rob was on watch, a group of 11 Elemental Earth Reavers snuck up on the sleeping party and ordered an immediate disarming of Rob and any fellow travelers. Shiloh crawled out of his sleeping foxhole, Stu happily greeted the newcomers, Sir Rob laid down his sword, Agnes grabbed her instrument, Nuwl donned his elven cloak and started sneaking, and Yllvetica tried to armor up within the wagon as quick as possible.   Despite his impressive skill and equipment, Nuwl was seen before he had gone more than 40ft and before he had a chance to ambush any attackers while unseen. In this time, Yllvetica’s had donned his light armor and brown cloak and burst from the wagon, demanding answers as to why Romag, the leader of the Earth elemental faction, was being detained and woken so early! Geralt announced that he is taking over and to solidify his leadership, he was to duel Romag to the death. With the party heavily outnumbered and a couple newer Guild-members at risk in such a precarious position, Yllvetica as Romag agreed, so long as his companions gave the party more space to prevent any double-crosses mid-duel.   Yllvetica, armed with his magical shield and the staff striking, faced off against Geralt, who wielded a javelin, twitching with electricity, and an impressive bronze breastplate. Yllvetica came out quick and landed the first blow, a solid 3-charged hit with the staff of striking. Geralt attempted a jab back, but narrowly missed. Geralt then stabbed out again and got Yllvetica solidly in the side. As the javelin made impact, a burst of lightning surged into Yllvetica as the javelin shattered with the impact and he held out with 1hp left, saved by the strength and fortitude that joins all guild-members from the Moathouse. In response, Yllvetica delivers back a full-powered staff of striking hit that put Geralt at the same level of exhaustion and injury. The two traded a few attacks back and forth, with none landing for what felt like forever. Finally, Yllvetica snuck a strong, quick jab into Geralt’s chest and flung him back, dead.   A number of Reavers fled and Yllvetica called on the remaining 4 to join him in the Temple and our mission! James, John, Robert, and Micheal. Sir Rob healed Yllvetica back to full health and Nuwl started trying to compose a ballad to commemorate the fight. The net recruited Reavers mentioned there being some Ogres that were also questioning Romag’s leadership. Agnes expressed a distaste for all of the death and destruction the party has been bringing to the area and unfortunately, her words did not resonate within the rest of the party. This led the party to first check out the Golden Pyramid with the Earth Elementals and retrieve the chest using one of the protective scrolls. From there, the party adventured further and found Grog, the Ogre leader, chilling with his feet up on a bench. Yllvetica burst through the door and haughtily challenged Grog’s leadership and claimed leadership of the floor himself. Yllvetica attempted to charm the ogre into laying down his arms and avoiding combat, but the Ogre was ready to defend his title. He grabbed the bench he was using as a footrest and clubbed Yllvetica with a quick one-two giant swings that fully caught Yllvetica off-guard and whammies him into oblivion. In his dying words, Shiloh was named the new Romag. The party proceeded to beat down the Ogre, with Nuwl force-choking the Ogre for almost the entire remaining fight.   The party proceeded to take Grog’s possessions and return to Hommlet to start the funeral rites for Yllvetica. The guild members paid their respects, each in their own unique way, with Shiloh graciously digging the hole and Garret planting two bronze wood tree seeds on the grave.
