Gosenk
A Town of Ale
The Town of Gosenk
A thriving beer town
The town of Gosenk is a small town in the western part of Yeltorn. The town is famous in Dramari for its amazing beer, brewed from hops grown outside the town. The beer is so good because of the three competing "Gosenki Families", a group of wealthy ale-makers constantly trying to bring the better brew. Much of the towns economy is based on this beer trade, with much of the townspeople working as farmers, either hops or food crops, or as brewers, merchants, haulers, and other things necessary for the product. Of course, there are other jobs, but the economy is essentially based on the growing of hops, distilling, and then selling of ale and beer.A varied populace
Like a lot of places in Yeltorn, Gosenk is a very diverse place. The main populace consists of humans, Elves, Humans, and gnomes. Other races like Dragonborn and even Tritons aren't uncommon, however. The town sits on the Western coast of Dramari, an area called Havemash's Landing. This placement leads to a lot of Tritons and Sea Elves from Island kingdoms, and many people emigrating from the Ralliok Kingdom.
Naval Presence
Due to its location, there are extensive docks built on the beaches. The Yeltorni navy has quite a large presence in Gosenk. Gosenk was the site of the first battle of the Yeltorn-Ralliok war 13 years ago, when the Ralliok Kingdom raided the city and tried to take control of its docks. The invaders were pushed back, though. The villages small keep is near the beach, within sight of the beaches. Shellsea Fortress is a small walled keep that houses the magistrate of the town. Within the castle walls there is also the meeting rooms for the Town Council, a group of advisors who advise the Magistrate.Government

History
Gosenk was founded in 432 PS, the fertile lands around it and the strategic location on the sea good for a port. The town was incredibly small for most of its existence, until the Elf Alamaus Moongleam was able to cultivate a type of hops that produced 4x the normal harvest in 497 PS. Soon, the Moongleam Brewery was founded, and had the greatest ale in Dramari.
This, of course, attracted competition, and the Rubyhood Clan moved into the town in 499 PS, founding the Dwarven Dance Brewery. Many brewers came to town in this period, but none made product to the quality of Rubyhood Premier or Lunar Shine. During this time the port trade in Gosenk exploded. Exporting ale across the coninent and beyond, and becoming an important military port (in part due to rising tensions with the Ralliok Kingdom) by 515 PS.
The duopoly in Gosenk ale production was broken in 527 PS when the Palepocket Brewery opened up, providing Gosenk Gold Ale. There were now three families vying for the top pick in the ale competition.
