Other People Groups

Though Odach is populated primarily by Humans, Elves, and Dwarves, other people groups are known to visit or reside here in small quantities. Here are a few significant examples:
Orcs & Half-Orcs: Orcs are currently locked in an ancestral war with the last remnants of the Giants who once ruled the world, and as such, rarely are orcs seen away from their home. Some Orc tribes come south to sell their muscle and earn money to buy weapons and armor for their brethren back home. Such tribes often intermingle with Humans, and Half-Orcs are the result of this. Half-Orcs typically travel in groups, selling their strength to those who need it, whether it be delivering heavy packages from one place to another, digging out a mine, or even acting as bodyguards, Half-Orc tribes traditionally take any job that pays highly enough.
Dark-Elves: Dark elves, called Delves or Drow by some, come from a tribe of High Elves that abandoned their horses and focused entirely on magic. Eventually, they discovered the Plane of Night, which promised eternal life spent with little to no light. The High Elves who moved to this plane became the Drow. What few Drow attempt to leave the Plane of Night often find that they cannot return. As a result, many Dark-Elves who live in Odach spend a lifetime trying to find the way back to their homes, usually to no success. Partly because of the Dark Elves' appearance and partly because of their history, many residents in Odach are either cautious when interacting with Drow, or avoid them completely.
Dragonborn: Dragonborn come from a kingdom ruled predominantly by dragons in the Western half of the world. Many Dragonborn are eternally locked as thralls of these dragonborn, living life as a mindless puppet, but some Dragonborn can escape this fate. Dragonborn refugees often find that no land in the West is willing to take them in, and may flee East instead.
Planetouched (Genasi, Aasimar, Tiefling): Entities from other planes of existence occasionally visit Odach, and through the sheer power it takes to physically manifest in another, those who get too close often end up permanently altered by their encounter. Planetouched possess abilities many consider unnatural, but in some societies they are respected or worshipped. A planetouched who goes to two otherwise identical cities within 30 miles of each other would find very different greeting from both places.
Goliaths: Among the last remaining descendants of the Giants, Goliaths are brought up into a world where the Kingdom of their Ancestors is largely gone, reduced to a strip of land in the coldest part of the world. This has created an everlasting bitterness in most Goliaths, regardless of whether they participate in the war for their remaining territory. Goliaths may strike out from their place of birth for many reasons, but those who leave their home are never permitted to return. Goliaths have a menacing reputation that often earns them undue aggression from others, but among some circles Giants and their descendants are still regarded with an amount of respect for their ability to conquer an entire continent.
Gnomes: The exact origin of the Gnome is largely a mystery, however they are likened to Halflings and Dwarves because of their size and appearance. Gnomes have society of their own, instead preferring to join up in other cultures. Gnomes do share an unexplained love of tinkering and trickery, but often put this aside in order to better meld with their adoptive culture. The original culture and society of the Gnomes, if ever it existed, has long since been lost.
