Satyr

Once a civilization in their own right, the satyrs are nearly extinct now. They have lost their homes, and become wanderers and shadows in other species cities.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Satyrs appear human from the waist up. Two arms, human like face, mammaries on females, the works. They are hairier in general, but their two defining characteristics are their horns and their hooves. They have horns on their heads, ranging from small stubs to giant, heavy behemoths. They also have hairy legs that end in hooves. These hooves allow them great grip on uneven surfaces(such as rocks and inclines).

Additional Information

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

Satyrs have excellent smell capacity, but many have developed a kind of sixth sense to help them survive. It hasn't been proven, but some satyrs claim to have developed a kind of "danger sense" that alerts them to incoming trouble. Many who live in the Otherworld have reported a similar "danger sense", and its existence is a hotly debated topic.

Civilization and Culture

Naming Traditions

Many family names are a nod to their profession. A satyr from a long line of soldiers may have the last name Bladesong or Steelhorn, while a line of explorers could have the name Wanderhoof or Skychaser. As jobs drift, the last names may become less and less relevant, but the names usually stick. The satyr may change it to suit their new life, but many keep that tie to their roots.

Average Technological Level

Before their collapse, satyrs had achieved a medieval level of technology. Iron weapons, bows, siege weapons, and so on.

History

In the middle ages of Ociles, the satyrs had a few kingdoms and a fair population. They kept up with the other races, both technologically and politically. Sadly, this wouldn't last, and the combination of four human kingdoms allying and their own infighting dealt a sever blow to them, and a mortal blow to their empires. These four kingdoms would later become the Concord of Humanity , and would end their wars.
Conservation Status
When satyrs nearly died out, the rest of the world opened their doors to them, sheltering and protecting them. Many have accepted the welcome, and have become normal members of societies. Mostly human, but the Storm Isles has a decent satyr population.
