Dragon

Basic Information

Anatomy

One of the largest monsters in The Otherworld , dragons rule the skies. Serpentine bodies glide on large wings and land on short legs ending in claws. A maw strong enough to crunch through bone caps their head off, with a whip like tail on the other end. They come in a variety of shapes and sizes, but mentally they are all very similar.

Biological Traits

One of the most recognizable draconic traits is their breath weapon. A beam of pure arcane energy that burns like a laser. All but the strongest materials fall before this blast and only the sturdiest creatures can hope to withstand even a single breath.

Ecology and Habitats

Dragons live exclusively in the Otherworld, soaring in arcane skies. They prefer open spaces, or high locations to survey the landscape. The Otherworld fills all creatures with magic, and dragons are no exception, so they have learned some ways to preserve their favorite lairs from the world shifting warps the Otherworld is known for.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Meat. Lots of meat. Dragons will eat more or less anything that moves, ranging from humans to monsters to occasionally other dragons. They refrain from cannibalism unless desperate, as it's easier to catch Kuka or Humans than another dragon. They do this catching by swooping down and snapping their prey up. In this way, they are a lot like birds of prey. They aren't afraid to use their size to their advantage though, and many guilds have reported dragons slamming into walls in attempts to break them down. Many more report their success.

Biological Cycle

As dragons grow, they shed their scales. This can range from individual scales to whole patches, but two or three at a time is common.

Additional Information

Domestication

Hahaha. NO! No one has ever tamed a dragon. The young dragons usually eat their would be trainers before they learn anything. Even if the don't eat their trainer, they will inevitably escape at some point. This hasn't stopped people from trying though. Many powerful guildmasters dream of riding around on the first trained dragon ever, and this has led many great guilds to ruin as a dragon literally tears the guild apart from the inside.

Average Intelligence

Many are bestial, but some show primitive intelligence. None have shown more intelligence than a common corvid though. Most just act like animals though. Hunting when hungry, resting when full, no real attempts at society or crafting.
