Animus Vines
Basic Information
Anatomy
These thick, grasping vines feed on corpses, and have enough magic to animate former victims in order to gather more. This re-animation is their best known ability, and many know to fear their red flowers.
Ecology and Habitats
Animus vines thrive in places with lots of death, or places that can cause lots of death with a little help. Such places include steep cliffs, narrow ledges and patches of poisonous undergrowth. If things don't die from the environment, the animus vine's zombies are happy to help them on their way.
Dietary Needs and Habits
Animus vines are decomposers, feeding off dead creatures. They aren't opposed to trying to eat living creatures, but unless the victim can't fight back, they can probably get away. The zombies are too slow to give chase, and the vines can't move.
Additional Information
Perception and Sensory Capabilities
No one's sure how animus vines can detect creatures, but they definitely have some sort of awareness of their surroundings. Theories have debated whether they have some sort of "eye" in their flowers, or perhaps they detect magic, or a dozen other ideas. But whatever the case, they have seemingly complete awareness of their close surroundings.
