The city of Eutoria was founded in the southern Dragonpeaks. The fortress city at that point marked the southern end of the empire, and would eventually lend it's name to two provinces and play a major role in the areas history.
After a five day battle, the Kingdom of Aurea defeated the armies of Zarthax at the walls of Terminus. The victory was so complete that it soon led to Aurea's conquest of the larger kingdom. The event is still celebrated annually in the city of Terminus with a five day festival.
The ancient kingdom of Abadar was conquered by the Aurean Empire. This would be followed by a series of regional rebelions here during the age of the dragon emperors.
The Aurean Empire conquered the last remnant of Zarthax, which had long survived the rest of the kingdom due to the natural defenses of the Hallow Hills and its efforts to distance itself from the Order of Dakath.
First Aurean invasion of Greenleaf Valley. Led by dragons, this invasion led to failure after the dragon emperor Galithrax was killed by an elven ballista.
In an effort to expand southward, the Aurean Empire encouraged settlers to move into the Bularian Plain and farm the land, and buildtowns and cities the empire could more easily control. However, by the time the end of dragon rule and the following civil war brought an end to new settlement, only a small area had been settled. This area would become the province of Eutoria Inferior.
A massive reptilian plague that devestated the dragon and dragonborn population of the Aurean Empire.
A revolt by the humans of the Aurean Empire in response to poor treatment by the dragons. Though crushed quickly and brutally, it shook the faith of the dwindling number of dragons affiliated with the empire.
The dragons of the Circle of the Heavens, which had ruled the Aurean Empire since it's founding, had been leaving due to what they saw as human deficiencies. The circle eventually disbanded, with most of the dragons leaving the empire. The last dragon emperor, Andothrax, left two years later.
After the abdication of Andothrax, the empire struggled to transition to human rule. A civil war soon broke out, lasting for 55 years and pulling the entire empire into intense conflict. Even after the war was over it took generations for Aurea to return to it's full power.
Upon the completion of The Great Stair, Aurean settlers flooded into Caltheria, and it was incorporated into a province of the Aurean Empire
A Rider chieftan named Hasinar united a number of Rider tribes and attacked the kingdom of Old Bularia. He took most of the kingdom, but was assasinated shortly after, and the kingdom crumbled into a number of warring kingdoms.
Under direction of the Aurean Empire, a large number of settlers were sent to Lake Thar in the Western Forest. The forest, as now, was mostly populated by small migratory bands of elves, few of whom resisted the empire's expansion at this time.
The Aurean Empire captured the port of Pillaran, gaining their first foothold on the western coast.
The Aurean Empire invaded The Rift , steadily removing each of the warring kingdoms one at a time as they did not attempt to unite until it was too late. This led to a complete Aurean conquest of The Rift, where their control would last for 1,800 years.
The lich emperor Vollinan II ruled the Aurean Empire. Known for his brutal rule, he was overthrown in 4688 AY by Tiberius XVII, who started The Purge in an attempt to cleanse the empire of evil forces.
An earthquake caused a shift in the sandbar at the mouth of the Aegion River , leaving a small route on the western end of the estuary the only navigable route between the Aegion and the sea. A settlement that came to be known as Port Aegion began to grow here, eventually becoming the largest city in the Kingdom of Thelegon .
The new emperor, Tiberius XVII, was a committed religious zealot who was committed to stamping out the worship of gods who's values he did not feel aligned with his own. He settled on only five acceptible gods, who became known as the The Divine Five, and began to purge the worshipers of all other deities. This action became known simply as The Purge.
A large section of the coast around the city of Lycanthum was struck by a massive tidal wave that was powerful enough to tear the land itself apart, creating The Teeth. The tidal wave is believed to have supernatural origins. Though most of Lycanthum, a former magocracy, was high enough to avoid the wave itself, the damage caused a magical chain reaction that among other things caused a huge fire that gutted most of the city and opened portals that brought through strange creatures. Magic is largely distrusted in the region to this day.
Under pressure from elven raids, the towns of Ilka and Thar expelled their Aurean garrisons to avoid destruction. The garrisons left willingly, as worried about the wild elves as the townspeople, and most survived the march east to the Dragonpeaks.
With the western forest elves having cut off contact through the Western Forest, the Aurean cities on the coast found themselves independent. Though at first emerging as several competing states, the city of Pillaran would soon come to dominate the region.
After rebellions broke out in the east as a reaction to the purge, which drew most of the empires armies, huge numbers of orcs, goblinoids, ogres, and giants left the highest reaches of The Dragonpeaks and attacked the valleys below. The empire abandoned most of the east to protect it's heartland, and though the conflict has cooled it still continues in the Southern Passes.
When a legion of hobgoblins cut off travel on the old road discontent elites in the empires southwestern provinces took their chance to sever ties completely. After a brief civil war the provinces were united under King Tiberius I of Thelegon.
The Aurean Empire attempted to invade their former territory in the Kingdom of Pillaran despite the long distance, seeing it as a weaker target after the failed invasion of Abadar. They reoccupied the cities of Lake Thar and captured Pillaran, but where unable to consolidate their gains due to attacks on their supply lines and a lack of any navy in the region, and were forced to pull out after a few months.
In an attempt to retake the Thelegon, an Aurean army marched down the The Old Road and besieged the city. Due to harsh desert conditions, long and treacherous supply lines, and the cities impressive defenses, the siege was ultimately called off after a short time.
