The Tangle

Geography

North and west of the Wingsong Mountains, this forest is thickly grown and rarely traveled. The foothills leading up to the mountains feature rocky outcroppings and ravines that cut across the land under the canopy, increasing in frequency the closer to the slopes one travels. After particularly heavy rains, flooding creates temporary rivers coming down the slopes and through the ravines, forming lakes in the lowlands between hills. In dry seasons, these areas become treacherous bogs and wetlands.

Fauna & Flora

Primarily deciduous where it borders the grasslands to the west, coniferous trees become more prevalent in the higher altitudes of the Wingsong's slopes. There are few large animals in this region. Instead, huge populations of small mammals, bright songbirds, insects and the widest variety of fungus in Erilis call the Tangle "home".

Natural Resources

Many small mammals are hunted for fur and food by private hunters living at the forest's western edge. After the Second Fires Assault, this region becomes known for its active portals. As many are difficult to access or hidden by the terrain, new portals are being discovered with each expedition.
