Orcish Fighting Pits

Knapsworth has, for several years now, become enthralled with the sweat and blood of pitfighing. With few rules and many casualties, the victim of this macabre fascination is all too often the local orcish population.   Fighting pits around Knapsworth come in all sizes, from small, back alley rings to a few large coliseums. The fights themselves are as varied as the arenas, ranging from classic One on One fights, to many vs many, or even orcs vs apex predators that are captured and thrown into the ring. Weapons may or may not be permitted, depending on the bout.   A strong orc can make much from a budding gladiatorial career; assuming it's not cut abruptily short. While the fighters themselves are, of course, prohibited from making bets directly on any fight large enough to attract professional bookies, there's nothing to say that friends and families cannot bet on their behalf. Larger tournaments may also offer prize money, though it is typically a pittance relative to the risk of life and limb one faces in their bouts.   The largest arena in Knapsworth, Bloodletters Field, has regularly scheduled bouts amongst well known champions several times a day, and draws crowds in the thousands, with highly anticipated matches packing all 20000 of the stadium's seats.
