Halflings

Halflings are an exceptionally short race. Short of stature, short of temper (at times), and short of money (seemingly perpetually), Halflings tend to do all manner of odd jobs, both above board and otherwise. They are frequent in any occupation where money might be found, especially in cases where hard labor is not required. While a few select halflings manage to reach the upper echelons of society via amassing great wealth, the vast majority plod away at the system, stuck at various casts between lowest of paupers, and the middle of society.   Halflings were formerly a dominant race in Asurus, but have found themselves in decline recently. This is attributed to humans taking over and dominating their political niche. Halflings, for the most part, do not actually seem to mind this; The relationship with humans has generally been profitable, and the prior halfling nobility was decadent and corrupt.
