Oas is the life-essence of Oabos, and the living power of the world core itself. It is both the fundamentally first element to be found, while being one of the last to be recognized as its own element. For most of the history of Oabos, oas was understood to be light and life. It was something that existed but not in the same way as the physical elements which formed the world and its peoples.
As soul scribes discovered their ability to see and record souls and their structures, they discovered oas was an element as well. It could be found as an element filling any ring of a soul map, with differing effects within each ring. What makes oas unique from other elements is that is is also a soul light. Soul lights power the very soul and existence of a being. Before humans arrived, all living beings on Oabos had a soul core filled with oas. If a soul contains enough oas, it can bleed into the other rings; powering of obscuring them depending on their elements and strength.
In The Soul Map
MIND
Oas filling the mind ring can occur naturally as the element in that ring, or as the result of oas overflow from the soul core. An oas mind is highly attuned to the world, and specifically how the world is impacted by events. Oas minds tend to focus their thoughts and actions on protecting and supporting the world and world core. These individuals do will typically not have strong emotional swings unless something is happening to Oabos. They rise in defense of the world and its natural peoples rather than for themselves or a more personal cause. Oas minds commonly find themselves naturally drawn into leadership roles in communities, due to this tendency and general broad systems mindset.
BODY
Oas bodies are only known to occur in two ways. The first is as a light spirit with no true body, but rather as a creature of living light with minimal form. Most of these are small light spirits found in calm fields and dense forests. They are typically not full elementine, but closer to elemental beasts. The second type of oas body is found in the Eldyr. While Eldyr have a physical body, it is always tied to a second element and they have two forms because of this. Eldyr have their main winged serpent form which reflects their secondary element, and a smaller humanoid form which uses their oas body to mimic the average physical form of those beings within their ruling. The secondary form tends to settle once a ruling is established, but can also form on the rare occasion that an Eldyr is around a singular community for long periods without forming a ruling.
SPIRIT
Oas spirits can manifest in many different ways. One of the most unique ways for an oas spirit to manifest is in soul scribes. Soul scribes have an oas spirit in direct opposition to their body. They can visualize the raw form of other being souls and how oas ( or radiance) flows through them. You ng soul scribes are often not able to properly track the movements of radiance within a persona's body and soul, but it is a skill which can be honed and expanded over time. It does not come naturally because oas and radiance are opposing world lights and do not interact well. The opposite manifestation is found in oas spirits directly aligned with the body ring. These individuals are conduates for oas, and can control the flow of oas within themselves. Eldyr are one form of oas spirit manifestations where the the oas in their spirit is not directly aligned with the oas in their body ring. This offset allows for control of oas flows within their own body, while also generating a field of raw oas around themselves. This is field is partially responsible for the linking properties which form Rulings under each Eldyr. Non-Eldyr with closely aligned oas spirits can become smaller conduits for oas, but are not able to form the ruling connection with others.
