Caenor, Soul Scribe
C
aenor is an elementine who gained their name and title as a soul scribe in 1 EM, a mere year before the human invasion of Oabos. Being so young they were considered foolish and overly curious, which lends itself very well to doing things a little differently. When the humans first arrived on Oabos a well-respected soul scribe tried to read their souls and failed. All the scribe saw was a tangled mess of golden threads and blinding light. This reading was verified by four other powerful soul scribes before all soul scribes were directed to stay away from the invaders.
Caenor was never all that good at following orders they did not agree with. Instead of retreating to safer lands, Caenor stayed and continued to observe the humans. No matter how many souls they read, all human souls seemed to be that same tangled golden mass. Until the first child was born. The children were the key. As beings born on Oabos, the children had soul maps, but their rings were strange. There were elements Caenor had never seen. Elements that did not belong to Oabos.
Soul Map
During Caenor's observation of the humans was the longest they had ever stayed in a singular form. As focused as they were on their observation, Caenor adopted an almost humanoid shape of dense water. Whenever the humans would relocate, they would follow while keeping a careful distance to avoid being noticed. Always careful not to grab the attention of the golden light floating about the humans as well.
As a soul scribe, Caenor's spirit ring is filled with oas. Unlike their mind and body rings, their spirit ring sits a quarter turn off. This is a strong formation for observing and scribing soul maps but also means that they could direct oas within themself. Caenor only manifested this ability once when addressing the council of Eldyr, and through a powerful connection with Oabos drew on the nature of human bodies and created a flowing approximation of flesh.
It is unknown if they still keep this form, as Caenor has not been seen since leaving the council meeting.
Soul Observations
Caenor was not concerned with these new elements until humans began to breed the animals they brought to Oabos with various elemental beasts. What seemed like experimentation doomed to failure quickly resulted in offspring with mixed elements. Some combinations resulted in young which could not survive, but others were successful.
Observing this, Caenor grew concerned. These new elements showed potential to be accepted by Oabos. What would happen if they started acting like the other elements and appearing in rings they did not originate from? Intellect jumping rings were not too concerning, if a strange idea, but Flesh jumping to the mind or spirit ring sounded dangerous.
Caenor took his observation to the council of Eldyr, but they remained unconcerned with the news of these new elements and how quickly they were being accepted into soul maps. So Caenor did the only thing they thought might get the Eldyr to listen. Connecting with the flesh element through their oas spirit, they condensed their flowing form into an approximation of a humanoid body. The transformation was slow, as dense water semi-solidified into bone, muscle, skin, and clothing. Standing before the Eldyr in their new form, Caenor delivered their final warning of what might come, and left. No elementine has seen them since.
