Estates Of The Mindful
Intellect is in many ways quantifiable, yet the echelon of worth still defies many and confuses most of the rest. In truth, the concept of society and culture that honors and respects intellect is more likely to be philosophical and political, somewhat sophisticated, somewhat labyrinthine in its mechanism. Truly wise cultures may arise, but just as assuredly ones that depend on precision, accuracy, and tenure.
1. They tend to live in dormitories, cloisters, and other halls of learning, discussing and debating the varieties of subjects that the literati might be pursuing at this point in time. They embrace the value of knowing and value the accessibility that knowledge and wisdom can provide. Positively glacial in terms of technological advances, the Mindful are astute and discerning, taking in all the facts before making changes.
2. Well-thought-out strategies are the key to success amid the Mindful, so expect planning and discussion to be more influential than military might or even experience.
3. Like the Ancients, names tend to reflect the wisdom of previous leaders, or perhaps intellectuals cut down before their time.
4. Place names are very old, and reflect solemnity and reserve.
5. The work of an intellectual isn't to come up with theories, but rather find ways to disprove the theory that cannot be substantiated.
6. Mindful is a major source of magical knowledge, though they try to downplay this reality. They sort of take it for granted.
In a mindful culture, it is about finding, researching, establishing, and proving every project well in advance.
Note that each Estate measures value differently. For instance, the Mindful community does not measure how wealthy in terms of money or assets so that a Professor might be destitute, and a Novice might be filthy rich. Intellect and Wisdom are measured by what you know not who you know and how you know them, ya know?
