Cousin X
A charismatic leader able to bridge the anarchist and democratic movements, Cousin X is sought by the authorities in four countries.
Born in Khir in 5.885, Cousin X joined the anarchist movement in 902 and was nominated to the Khirric Anarchist Council in 904, following its split from the Khirric Worker’s Committee. Recognising that the schism weakened the republican argument, Cousin X maintained ties with members of the Committee in the hopes of pushing for the abolition of the monarchy and the institution of, if not a true Anarchist republic in the Kono'iwae fashion, then a secular republic.
Cousin X changed their name to obligate authorities to accept them as an equal (‘cousin' being the Khirric equivalent to the Kjeforin ‘comrade’). Following the attempted assassination of King Johan IX, Cousin X fled Khir for Orstadland, even before the would-be assassins were found to have been members of an unaffiliated anarchist organisation. Although there has never been any evidence to suggest that Cousin X was materially involved with the assassination attempt, their speeches - which still invoke passionate rhetoric about “an end to tyrants” - and their outspoken anti-monarchist sentiment were enough to cause the authorities to look for them.
Despite being forced to flee their home, Cousin X made a home within the Orstad anarchist movement, unifying three separate factions under the banner of the Orstad People’s Alliance and building links with various workers liberation campaigns. During this time, they softened their rhetoric to call for democratic representation, while still maintaining an ideal of direct democracy.
Even this relative softening was not been sufficient to ensure their safety from the authorities. When the Orstad police invaded a public meeting, Cousin X was singled out and severely beaten in an attack that left them paralysed on the left side of their face. On their release, they once again relocated, this time to Kjeforland, and began to live a nomadic life, giving speeches and writing public letters now openly calling for an end to the monarchy, the bishopric, and the police.
