Empress

    Different from the title of Queen, an empress is the female ruler of an empire. Royalty that you can be born into as the heir/ crown prince or princess of a nation already classified as an empire or a title that can be taken once a kingdom is declared an Empire. An Empress/emperor is more powerful than a king as they control a larger geographical area with different states and regions which can be controlled by kings/queens who work under the empress/emperor. They require larger armies to protect the land than a kingdom and more resources to govern. The Empress can hire representatives to help govern regions of the empire further than from the capital as well. On top of the hierarchy followed by (in female positions) as listed-
Empress Queen Grand Duchess Grand Princess/Crown Princess Archduchess Duchess Princess Marchioness Countess Viscountess Baroness Dame Lady     Is addressed as "your majesty" not "highness" as that is the title for princesses and princes.

Qualifications

Must be the heir to the throne unless special circumstances occur. Also, must rule a land declared as an empire not a kingdom.

Appointment

Goes through a coronation ceremony once the previous ruler either passes or hands down power.

Duties

Ruling the entire domain and taking care of all citizens. Caring for political needs and improving the state of the empire as well as defending the land when needed. Depending on how peaceful a reign is a monarch may have to go to war or choose to go into battle in attempts to defend or expand their land.

As the highest authority in the entire empire, they have absolute authority and power. They live in the royal palace with countless servants and vassals to care for and assist them.

Cultural Significance

Depending on the reign of a monarch they can be highly revered or scornfully curses by the commoners and nobility as their very lives are affected by every decision they make.
