Westray
Westray is a unique continent barely largely than an island. Due to its warm climate and lofty heights, it's very attractive to all species of dragons. The inhabitants are largely kobolds, dragonborns, changelings, and other reptilian races who live alongside the dragons in relative harmony. They consider the dragons to be important citizens of the nation, but allow them to keep their own laws and government.
The continent is ruled by the dragon's government, The Magocracy of Evrar, and the government of the other sentient races, The Grand Duchies of Imladhon.
Geography
The continent is mountainous and home to a variety of rare ores deep within its many cavern complexes. Most freshwater is located in underground lakes and rivers, but river one founts at the city of Bebury before flowing into the sea. Unique brackish water coral coils in the bay, but has been damaged in recent years due to the fishing and ship building in Ecmoor.
The central portion of the continent is occupied by mountains and volcanoes. While all volcanoes on the island are currently dormant, some scholars believe a large-scale eruption of Mt. Dismal around -100 Dark led to the Griven Ice Age. These mountains are covered in trees and forests.
Rocky beaches along the northern edges of the island make the area deadly to ships. Due to a warm ocean stream (known as The Jade Stream), the beaches remain a popular destination for tourists.
Fauna & Flora
While dragons are the often most cited fauna of Westray, they are not natives to the continent. The land was originally inhabited by Homau Orcs, Nxudh Goliaths, Changelings, and Kraken. Somewhere around 100 Light, dragons migrated to the area and were quickly followed by kobolds and dragonborn. There was minor conflict which led to the mass migration of Homau Orcs to the continent of Siriene. Over time, changelings assimilated into the Eloptu culture. Nxudh Goliaths maintain their unique identity, but their numbers have been rapidly decreasing.
The brackish water corals in Westray's bay are of nominal significance. Unique species of colorful fish and two types of smallish, sentient Kraken live here. They are considered one of the world's natural wonders which has brought much tourism to nearby Ecmoor. Unfortunately, fishing and ship wrecks have destroyed some of the aquatic infrastructure.
The damage to the brackish coral led to mass protests by the indigenous populations of Goliaths, Kraken and Changelings. Laws were successfully changed to protect the corals from fishing, but conservationists warn it may take a long time before the corals are returned to their full splendor.
