Chapter 32: The Crown of Ravenloft

  The Crown of Ravenloft is an object of immense power. The von Zarovich family brought it with them when fleeing persecution from Faolin. In their immense and tremendous wisdom, they used the Crown to protect Barovia and were awarded with an estate by the grateful Barovians.   There are those who state the Crown is made of a Faolin-specific metal known as Passol, but historians debate this point. Firstly, as recorded by the scholar Jonde Lercake Ter Sabrine, Passol is an unstable material. To weave an object of power from it would require more power than the object itself would provide. While Sabrine theorized about such a possibility due to the abundance of the material in the trees of Maz, she ultimately ruled such a thing would be folly.
