The (Seven?) Energies

For ages The Kindred Peoples have known of the The Veil, and have found ways to manipulate its power to defend Nov Matar from the servants of the Fallen, as well as for other purposes. In so doing, they have found that the Veil seems to operate in specific ways. Magi have found seven kinds of forces they can manipulate and have classified these as the Seven Energies or the Seven Circles. They are:   Radiance: Light energy, used to produce, eliminate, move or alter light.   Sound: Energy of sonic vibrations.   Heat: Thermal energy, the power to manipulate heat and cold, to produce and quell fire.   Motion: Mechanical energy, the ability to aid, impede or manipulate the movement of creatures or objects.   Electricity: Energy from a static or moving electrical charge, often used for the purpose of transfering energy between systems.    Life: Life energy is the energy of biological organisms. Considered by magi as the most complex form of energy that, at times, often borrowing from several other energies to perform. Life energy is best used for healing but it has often been used for evil purposes. Many believe that the use of life energy was the basis for creating the Veilspawn.   Stasis: The collection of energy for future purposes.   

Beyond the Seven

Some believe that there are more than seven energies. Some argue that many of the works done during the Veilstrife, as well as a few inconsistencies in the known Circles, strongly suggest additional circles. What's more the motif of describing these energies as interlocking circles is older than the Veilstrife, and many document fragments and carvings and artworks suggest eight, nine and sometimes ten different Energies.    While some relish the thought of discovering what these Energies might be, others are wary of them as they often seemed to have been used for the most devastating machinations of the Great Empires of that time, perhaps best left to lie forgotten.
