Session 2 - Fullorb the 12 to Stardusk the 14th of Havestfall

General Summary

The tempest-tossed sea roared around the Fianna's Favor, its battered frame wrestling against the fury of the storm. In a desperate bid for survival, the party pooled their ingenuity and fashioned a makeshift rudder from the cargo crates. Licaster, the haughty Merchant Officer, was less than cooperative. Maylin and Pharox, driven to intimidate him into reason, found their efforts futile until Amalfi, with a compelling plea, convinced Licaster to prioritize the collective well-being over his arrogance. Maylin's natural instincts guided her to select the optimal crate for the makeshift rudder. As the party worked on installing the temporary rudder, the ship's precarious dance with the storm nearly claimed two of their own. Nightshade, her balance betrayed by the tumultuous waves, teetered perilously close to the edge, while Kaldor fought against the relentless pull threatening to drag him into the abyss. Gale, perched in a managerial stance, discerned Nightshade's impending danger and sounded the alarm, enabling Alana to act swiftly, preventing Nightshade from being swallowed by the sea.   Amalfi, held in the firm grasp of Maylin and Pharox, invoked the strength of the Seven Seas, successfully installing the makeshift rudder. With this newfound control, the Guildcaptain and crew skillfully steered the ship out of the storm's clutches, redirecting towards the safety of the nearest island.   As the storm's fury subsided, the party turned their attention to the fallen Sahuagin, scavenging for anything of value. Pharox, finding six fairly pretty seashells, distributed one to each party member except Gale, expressing his frustration with Gale's inaction during Nightshade's rescue. Alana discovered a kelp scroll adorned with a crude drawing of a compass and mystical runes. Gale, casting "comprehend languages" in secret, withheld the translation from the group.

Sigrid the goði of the Whaleheart Clan
The party, having leveled up to level 2, reached the shores of Fjall. The deserted docks slowly filled with villagers, and Sigrid, the goði or gothi, greeted them. The village had been isolated for three months, surviving on dwindling rations. Licaster begrudgingly agreed to share some of the cargo's food, leading to a feast that alleviated the villagers' hunger.

The approach to Njál's lighthouse

Njál the lighthouse custodian
After a night's rest, the party ventured to Njál's lighthouse, encountering a scared but cautious lighthouse keeper. Amalfi's persuasive charm quelled Njál's fears, and he revealed that he possessed a magical compass tied to the legendary ship, the Runestorm. However, the compass, with its dual nature of locating sunken treasure and summoning destructive storms, was missing a crucial component—the wizard's chisel. Njál believed the chisel was in the sunken remains of the Runestorm, and he hoped to rectify the compass's curse.

The Runestorm Compass
Provisions in tow, the party accompanied Njál towards the mountainous terrain, setting up camp near a family shrine. The evening unfolded with Pharox's trident antics, a mix of skill and self-inflicted misfortune. Nightshade's ranger expertise secured a bountiful forage from the woods, sparing the party from dipping into their provisions as they prepared for the journey ahead.
