Howard Ulysses Bachmann

Physical Description

General Physical Condition

Wolf is slightly muscular, and demonstrates and uncanny speed and agility, and given his psionics, his reaction time is phenomenal.

Body Features

Wolf is covered in scars from his torso to his feet, as well as hangman's scars around his neck.

Identifying Characteristics

Along with his glowing green eyes, Wolf can be identified by his wire-framed glasses, though many consider his face a dead give away, "a haggard mask of contempt."

Special abilities

Wolf's psionic abilities are limited to sensing when other are nearby, and even help him to aim seconds before his lifts his gun, and with this he can hone in on multiple targets before blasting them away, only needing to pull the trigger and allow his mind to do the rest.

Apparel & Accessories

Wolf is always clad in dirty, ragged clothing--a torn shirt, jeans with holes, a faded denim jacket, a hat that's been patched to hell, and even his boots and gun holster look old and ready to break.

Specialized Equipment

One item of note is Wolf's gun, an antique revolver--in fact it's the first revolver ever made--that belonged to his ancestor Tassiter Bachmann, a silver pistol with two gnomish runes carved into the barrel.

Mental characteristics

Personal history

Born Howard Ulysses Bachmann, he was once a distinguished member of his family, gaining some renown as a monster hunter, and racking up an impressive head count by age fifteen, owing most of his skills to his mentor, Thomas Bachmann. But by age nineteen it all came crashing down with the death of his father Julius. Julius was dabbling in dark magic, and the result of his latest experiment cost him his life, and marked Howard in the process, giving him psychic powers. The heads of his family, along with his uncle Caesar, deemed him an abomination, and exiled him from the family. To make matters worse he refused to relinquish Tassiter Bachmann's silver pistol--granted to him for his bravery in The Rite of The Hunt--and ran off before his family could stop him. With half his family after him, and without a home of his own, Howard now goes by the moniker of Wolf, a name given to him by a band of druids, and spends his days wondering Verte-Paysage, slaying monsters for a pretty coin, and seeking a way to reverse the damage done by his father.

Education

Wolf has been trained in the ways of the hunt, and thus has a robust knowledge of magical beasts, and various tactics on slaying them.

Accomplishments & Achievements

At the age of fourteen he accomplished his first kill, a bunyip, and earned much respect from his family for the kill. From there he sought to train his body and mind for more challenging kills, not as a means to upstage himself, but because the bunyip nearly cost him his life, and thus he seeks to never be put in that position again.

Failures & Embarrassments

His years of tutelage under Thomas Bachmann has given Wolf a relentless attitude, for Thomas believed life was the best teacher--though he still took the time to hammer in the tenets of the Bachmann's. As such Wolf doesn't believe in failure, and will even risk death at the cost of a hunt.

Mental Trauma

The betrayal by the hands of his uncle in banishing him, combined by countless backstabs and near death experiences has made Wolf distrustful of others, and his father's death has fueled an even deeper bias towards magic users. As such he never uses his real name, but this is also due to a warped opinion that he is unworthy of his name, for he still holds a deep loyalty to his family and their way of life. But still he seeks companionship-- even if he has to pay for it.

Intellectual Characteristics

When it comes to monster hunting--or even bounty hunting--Wolf has proven to be merciless, something proven in the cold, calculating way he approaches a hunt, exploiting a targets weakness; and when hunting criminals he will collect information by targeting his allies--usually with violence.

Morality & Philosophy

Given how many betrayals he's been through, Wolf doesn't believe in loyalty, though he has a strong sense of honor, and is willing stand up for the few people he still trusts in his life. Though towards others he is cold, and many have described him as "a stoic, creepy feller."

Taboos

"Death Before Family" is the Bachmann motto, and it's something Wolf holds to heart, and sees abandoning a hunt, and fear in general, as a sign of weakness.

Personality Characteristics

Motivation

Wolf is motivated by two simple needs: money, and the fear of his family catching up to him.

Savvies & Ineptitudes

Good with a gun--as well as maintaining it, for he know how to use a forge--but terrible with his people skills.

Likes & Dislikes

Hates cowardice, and will call you out on it... though that's the best case scenario, but a good drink and good conversation is the fastest way to his heart--though that doesn't mean he trusts you, he just likes your company.

Virtues & Personality perks

Strong sense of honor, and is relentless when it comes to get a job done.

Vices & Personality flaws

Cigarettes, and from time to time he'll dabble in clarity, a drug used for those with poor eyesight--though given his psionics, he rarely needs it unless his glasses are hindering him. He also is quick to anger, and will lash out at the smallest thing. In addition to this is his need for companionship, though he tends to pay whores for that kind of thing, even when not looking for their particular service.

Social

Contacts & Relations

There are few people that Wolf can trust, save for Bill Paxton, a blind bar tender in the town of Iron Mill, Dave Idle, an old friend of his from before his exile, and the circle of druids he ran with for a short time.

Family Ties

Despite his fall from grace, Thomas Bachmann, his cousin Raya, Thomas' sister Calypso, and a few others in the Bachmann family still view favorably, and even argued against his exile, though there's little they can do for him in times of need.

Religious Views

Wolf prays to the Ladorum, Goddess of the hunt, and puts his life in her hands, and only prays to the other High Twelve when it's convenient.

Social Aptitude

Wolf's social aptitude is near non-existent, and even when trying to be polite he can be sarcastic, and blunt.

Mannerisms

As previously mentioned Wolf can be a cold individual, though if you somehow manage to get on his good side he is one to joke, and make small talk.

Hobbies & Pets

Wolf has a horse, Golfiel, gifted to him by the mortician of Iron Mill, Stephens. His hobbies include: reading, as well as writing.

Speech

Wolf has a serious tone of voice, a voice which can be described as dry and even mocking at times.

Wealth & Financial state

Wolf can only boast a few silver coins in his name.
