The Old Forest
Long time families residing in the Old Forest have various rights to collect firewood and forage. About 200,000 people live in the area broadly defined as the Old Forest. Most of people do not actually live in the forest and therefore do not have the rights. There are only about 30,000 to 50,000 people that live in the forest.
The forest is very ancient and does have a symbiotic relationship with those born in the forest as their wist is often stronger than expected.
Geography
The Old Forest is mostly in Chisterbury Province with some of it spilling into Betrinc Province and Flok Province.
The northern and eastern boundary of the Old Forest is The Highway. The other boundaries are not as well defined, this does lead to issues with who has rights to gather fuel or forage

History
The Old Forest is very ancient dating back to the last ice age. It is also very much connected to Angshire culture and religion. The original Angshire people came from the area of the Old Forest, not Mackia Island, as some claim there.
The forest has often been the home of outlaws. It has also been the places where people in revolts and such escape to.
