Caprori Melon

Material Characteristics
The melon grows to about 30 cm long in the shape of a rugby ball. The exterior is a smooth deep purple skin. The interior is green like the colour of a kiwi fruit.
The seeds can only be gathered once the melon, still on the vine, starts to rot. The farmers association makes sure no one can get seeds by ensuring every field, other than the designated ones, are clean of any melons long before the seeds are ready.
History & Usage
Discovery
The Caprori melon was developed about 200 years ago by a fruit farmer in the southern part of Caprori county.
Cultural Significance and Usage
The melon has become an important gift item in much of Cantumland. It has become associated with some of the Biyererere Deities annual festivals.
Distribution
Trade & Market
All the melons are grown exclusively in Caprori county of Giula along the Apavik River valley. The trade in the melons is controlled by the local farmers association.
