Wallacian Campaign Session #41
General Summary
- The session opened with the party (and Constable Clarkeson) on a low hill over-looking the Dendrar estate. Throughout the afternoon they have seen two men and Suanne Haskill (now re-armed with a short sword) periodically patrol around outside the house, barn, gardens, and greenhouse. The patrols did not seem very diligent.
- At dusk, only only male guard was seen, smoking in one of the stalls of the stable. The curtains of all the visible windows were drawn, but the party could tell that some of the glass-paned windows were party open.
- The party decided to leave the Constable on top of the hill with his horse and pack mule.
- Leanna's familiar (in the form of a cat) sneaked forward into a bush near the house. It did not appear to be spotted by the smoking guard.
- The rest of the party advanced as a group towards the house. They tried to be stealthy, but Leanna spooked a cote of doves in the garden, which noisily burst into the air. At the sound, Suanne pushed aside the curtains of the parlor and looked out into the garden, spotting at a few of the party. Suanne shouted "Intruders!" and closed the curtains, but not before some of the party noticed that there are wrought iron bars in the inside of the curtains, blocking access through the windows.
- The two male Haskills advanced around the corner of the building, and were quickly cut down by the party.
- When the party started sneaking around the corner towards the entrances to the house, someone hidden int he shadows of the roof fired arrows at the them. Eventually, the party spotted Suanne crouched on the roof, and were able to kill her. Suanne's body then slid down the roof and fell into the courtyard.
- Entering the house, the party found that the door to a back bedroom was barricaded, and they heard what sounded like two women trying to call for help through gags.
- Forcing the door part way open, they party encountered the last Haskill captor, a young woman. The woman tried to keep the party at bay, but she was being quickly overcome.
- The woman then activated her mageborn ability, becoming mostly incorporeal. Although she was much more resistant to damage in this form, and was able to walk through a solid wall to escape, Mary was able to stab her with her Vampire Dagger, causing the young Haskill woman to begin bleeding.
- The young woman almost bled out, but the bleeding finally stopped, and she escaped into the darkness.
- While the party gathered and discussed their next move, the escaped female Haskill ran to a nearby camp of her kin. The party has time for a Quick Rest before the Haskill reinforcements arrive. They can spend Rest Points to recover any lost HP, and will have full Stamina. There is not time to recover Grit or Mana Points.
- The party won initiative, with Crow, Leanna, and Rus each having a 1d6 Inspiration die for the coming encounter. However, since the party did not post guards or a watch, and one of the Haskills escaped, the party will be Surprised, having only 2 AP for the first round of the encounter. If additional players show up, they will roll initiative to see if they also earn an Inspiration die.
