Verdassi Thylarrium

Despite the delicious flavor of the green leaves, they turned my companion green. No I don't mean he was sick!

Verdassi Thylarrium (also known as The Green Effect) is a side effect of consuming Tuvarik Leaves, a plant that grows in the forests of the Ossaman Tribes and are usually used in powerful soups and stews. Some people are immune to the effect, particularly those who grew up on the leaves.   People from outside the Ossaman Tribes have attempted to study the effects and replicate them through the use of different magics and other potentials to try and use them as a combative feautre. But the knowledge to do so has evaded them.

Description

Verdassi Thylarrium is an uncommon side effect to eating Tuvarik Leaves. It occurs more prominently in those who have never consumed the leaves before, and seemingly one can build up a tolerance to the effect and be completely immune to the side effect. There are many common remedies to ensure the safety of an individual when they eat the leaves, but they are most prominent in the Ossaman Tribes.   When someone is under the influence of Verdassi Thylarrium, their skin goes a vibrant green. Some have compared it to a verdant forest, while others have said its darker. This means that there are different shades of Verdassi Thylarrium depending on the individual. Unfortunately, the negative effects are a swollen tongue and slurred speech, making an individual seem as if they are drunk on an extremely potent alcohol.   If left untreated for a long time, there have been some cases, where although the swelling and slurred speech has gone away, the pigmentation of the skin has remained permanently. It is not uncommon to find a person or two around the eastern side of Ossalimar, whose skin have a slight or vibrant green pigment.

Removing the Effect

The effects of Verdassi Thylarrium can seem to be permanent unless removed in a careful manner. For many it involves a salve that is applied behind the neck and absorbs into the skin in a matter of moments. To create this salve, you need the Tuvarik Flower, which is often kept on hand just in case of a reaction. Once applied, a person must retain it on the back of their neck, or risk the pigmentation of the skin being permanent.   There has been a rare few cases where the effect has only lasted a minute and then disappeared. It is unknown what causes this, but all of the people who were fortunate enough to experience these effects, then found themselves immune to the side effect when consuming Tuvarik Leaves in the future.

This is a fun little side effect. Glad its effects are nothing too unpleasant in the long run. Don't know if I would want to be stuck green though.
