Uses of Snails

This article was first comprised as a joke, however, it is now a cursed document that exists within the world. Please use document in the realm however you wish due to its strange nature and accursed form.

The Uses of Snails is a book that has long been considered by many to be cursed. The origins of the book remain unknown to even the current holders of the book, yet its magical enchantment has become renown among arcane specialists.

Description

This small leatherbound book is no larger than the palm of a hand. Its cover seems to make a spiraling pattern with the words "73 uses for snails" written in the primary language of the current holder. When opened, the books vellum pages seem to shimmer with a small slime, causing an iridescent sheen over each and every word. The ink seems to follow this sheen, despite its emerald green coloration, as it shifts in the light, its colors shift and change with the light.

Usage

'Uses of Snails' is primarily an information book for the uses for snails. However, there is a very particular enchantment on the book. If a new spell that has not been cast upon the book is cast, the holder can absorb the effects of the spell into the book. As it does so, the effects of the spell are negated and a magical enchantment inscribes a new usage for words upon the pages, stating that snails can be used to protect against the effects of the spell.   It has been theorized that the book has been granted a level of divine power, and that this power would be transferred to the holder of the book should all known spells be cast upon the book. Despite this theory, there is no confirmation on its accuracy.

Owners

While the original creator of the book has had their name lost to the sands of time, within the past several centuries the document has been in the hold of the Grand Archive of the Obsidian Forge. It has traded hands among various Diamonds in control of different archive sites. Originating within the Ankh'eal Archive, the book eventually found its way to the Nagran Campus under the protection of Diamond Dryvin Bronzehammer where it had recently remained since 696 AR.   In 735 AR, Tyurn Fireblood the Elder of the Windswept Ossaman Tribe was drawn to the book as they were researching at the Nagran Campus. He picked up the book and added it to his bag, the archive glad to be rid of the book.

Content

As is clear upon the title of the book, it contains pages listing different uses for snails. The list currently totals seventy three items, divided into five uses per page. Of the many pages within the book, there are at least fifty that are blank.   Some stated uses are:
1. Observing nature.
2. Eating raw.
9. Keeping as pets.
24. Beads.
48. Small Cups.
69. Potion ingredients.
73. Protection against fire bolts.
