Khashana Maidon

Upon the evening when the dark side of the moons shine down, a force shall quell over the world for the first time in a generation. On this night, blades of silver and steel will slice the throats of shadows. A master shall find a step forward, while all take steps back.
— A prophecy from Khashana that foretold of the Night of Silver.

Khashana Maidon is a telethran oracle. She resides in the mountains of the Moorbound Peaks where she helps to dispense prophecies, and has done so for many years. It is said that anyone who hears her prophecies will either immediately disregard it, or find themselves cursed by the impending knowledge of doom and destruction.

Description

Appearance

Like many Telethra, Khashana resembles a human in many forms. She has a deep mahogany skin that contrasts her bright blue eyes. However, most stark is her bright white hair that falls just above her waist. Most days her hair is braided or put up in a collection of messy hair to get out of her way. Khashana stands just under 5 and a half feet tall, which is pronounced even more by her slouching and hunching over. She is often dressed in quite plain clothes, simple tunics and belts. Often accented by a collection of pouches and other material arcane components.

Personality

Khashana has two distinct personalities when you speak to her, depending on if she is currently channeling a prophecy or not. When not channeling, she comes across as bubbly and friendly, finding ways to be accommodating to everyone around her. She is the first to offer refreshments, even to those who have come to mean her harm. However, when channeling a prophecy, she becomes serious and dark, almost mischievous, as if a chaotic force has taken over her whole existence. Khashana is her most harmful when she is channeling a prophecy, often leaving those who receive a prophecy with a lingering wound.

Biography

Born some point in the distant past, Khashana is said to have always been influenced by the power of visions. Those who are aware of her existence, speak of her as a Telethra, but her visions are an exception to the studied nature of the ancestry. There are writings that have claimed Khashana was around during the Bornassi Kingdom and took part in the Golden Rebellion, but at this point, she could have been hundreds of years old already.   Through intense magical efforts, Khashana has visited the homes of each of the Dual Idols for different reasons. She visited the realm of Dream to learn to interpret her own dreams better. Khashana visited the realms of Arlivon, Hyvalia, Wudran, and Xivarinto learn to harness their aspects of existence and begin to learn to influence them.   Finally, she visited the realm of Corvina to petition her regarding her continued existence on the mortal plane, here a bargin was struck, the terms of which neither will confirm of deny. No one is clear when exactly this meeting took place, but since then, it is claimed that Corvina will not collect Khashana's soul until she decides to forfeit her life.   Currently Khashana resides in her home halfway up one of the mountains in the Moorbound Peaks, where she dispenses prophecies, remedies, and quests to those who come and visit her. She has been correct in nearly all of her predictions, with some having dangerous and dark consequences for the future.

Relationships

Destiny

Khashana and Destiny have a complicated relationship. Khashana's prophetic powers stem directly from Destiny's influence, but she also sees them as a curse. Destiny often visits Khashana, to learn of what it is like, living for years and knowing what is to come, but having a lack of belief. This interaction has caused the two to form an intimate relationship, both enjoying each others company.

Dual Idols

All of the Dual Idols have a level of respect for Khashana after she visited their realms. However, over the years the younger Dual Idols have started to use her as part of their scheming upon the world. Often their followers find themselves at Khashana's door before something terrible is going to happen. The exceptions to this are Tral'Vokar and Corvina, both of whom have high admiration for everything that Khashana represents.

Abilities

Khashana's most prominent ability is her prophetic visions that allow her to see future events. Over the years, people have learned that these visions are accurate, but many who hear the prophecy have an enchantment placed upon them to either refuse to believe the contents, or cower in a maddening fear that overwhelms them. Though there is evidence that Khashana can foretell any events, it seems that many of her visions portent dread and disaster, with many of those who break through the enchantment trying to change the outcome of the visions.   At some point during her extended life, Khashana delved into the Occult arts and as such has the ability to channel spells through material components that are able to help others and protect herself. Some claim she could be an archmage or a hag that has just been influenced with prophetic visions. Despite her ability to weave all forms of spells, she is most skilled at weaving both enchantment and illusory spells. Khashana uses them both to enhance her prophecies, and to record what she said to others, trapping the prophecy in a crystal ball that she stores and can refer back to.

Does she find it frustrating that most people don't believe her?

Yes and no. It was at first, but now she's thankful they don't always believe their doom is coming.
