Ithran Hefluck is a Half-Elven mercenary, and recently a monster hunter. He has direct connections with Telesk Moontorn and the Masked Order, having honed his skills under their tutelage and now traversing the Ossalimarian Empire to find monsters that have scourged the continent.

Description

Appearance

Ithran stands easily 6 feet tall, with a thick mane of brown hair that fall just below his shoulders, over the years streaks of white have started to appear in this hair, giving Ithran a more distinguished look. His upper lip is scarred from a monster attack, though various other parts of his body have reminders of such attacks.
  When out hunting, Ithran wears a narrow brimmed hat and a thick leather coat that helps to support his leather armor and relevant weapons and materials for such a hunt. He often wears a bandoleer with at least three finely crafted daggers across his chest, and has a custom made crossbow at his side, ready to launch bolts at anyone who wishes to attack him.

Personality

Some have called Ithran gruff, with an intense air surrounding his presence. He knows he can be intimidating and uses this to his advantage, making jokes that come off as threats under the correct context. Some have called Ithran sadistic with his love of the hunt for monsters, however others have called him mad due to his intense search for such creatures.

Notable Abilities

While not trained in the art of magic through arcane study, Ithran seems to have an innate connection with some form of magical potential, over many years, he has honed the skill to the point of mastery. However, his knowledge of the strange and unusual has allowed him to manifest an idea of Occult magic that has granted him a greater understanding of the monsters that he now hunts.
  As a mercenary many of his skills lie in efficiency of kills rather than subterfuge or deception. As a result, Ithran is skilled with many different types of weapons to the point of lethality. Due to this intense skill, some have sought out Ithran for his knowledge to develop their own understanding of weapons. Many of these seekers are sent by the Veritas Convention to grant even the most inept with a weapon a better understanding of how they work.

Early Life

Born some point in the late 600's, Ithran started life with meager means, his parents both working as a tanner and a carpenter respectively. They did their best to provide as much opportunity as possible to a young Ithran, but found themselves lacking ability to truly take care of him. At the time, the city of Longvale had become known for its darker persuasions, with those of necromantic skill being praised almost exclusively. The Lady of the city sought out and killed many to raise them as part of her own army. This included Ithran's parents who were brought into the undead army.
  Alongside two other young teens, Ithran escaped from the dark cloud that was swallowing around Longvale and found an escape north, with the hopes of a better life. However, as he arrived in the shining capital of Grantour, he and his friends was brought into the eyes of the Veritas Convention, who used the young collection to further their experiments with the mental scarring of younger children to bring them in line.
  While Ithran was able to break free from the mental scarring, he found himself entranced by the ideals of the Veritas Convention, even if arcane study still eluded him. So he worked alongside Matron Evelyn Ashreign and General Garda Nyasinth who taught him occult spellcraft and martial mastery respectively. Once he was ready, he was released from their tutelage and commanded to go rid the world of its scourge.

Life of a Mercenary

After his learnings in the Blackstone Keep, Ithran head forth from Grantour looking for opportunities as a sellsword. He travelled across the continent, learning more about different types of creatures that attacked various townships and villages, especially as many of these regions gave coin to those brave enough to go and attempt to seek out such dangers.
  However, as tensions grew between the Ossalimarian Empire and Dolvalyn Sovereignty, Ithran found that much of the coin that he could gather involved covert missions into the northern reaches. He used this time to learn more not only about the monsters that could travel down from the north, but also on the people that worked alongside the Saitodian, a group closely linked to his missions at the time.
  After 20 years of earning coin as a mercenary, Ithran found himself slowing down on the missions and wanting for a more monster filled life, learning about the creatures that were attacking his old home. He worked alongside members of the Crownsguard and other pwoerful organisations to quench the rebellious leadership in Longvale, creating the ruins of the old city and the thriving tillage nearby. This however brought Ithran under the eye of Telesk Moontorn, who offered to take Ithran under his wing.

For 5 years, Ithran trained to become a member of the Masked Order. This time granted Ithran further occult knowledge and allowed him to master his understanding of the more strange and occult creatures that roamed the land. Ithran was also called upon for many different hunts, drawing creatures into the light and removing them from the mortal plane. Over time, he became a trusted companion of Telesk Moontorn, however, this meant that Ithran became aware of the corruption that lay at the heart of Telesk and his order.
  In the middle of the night, Ithran grabbed a portion of Telesk's fortune and made his way back north towards Grantour, seeking a new fortune and his old tutors. He was successful in finding both, learning more of his own abilities once again and being installed as nobility in the city of Onerage. It was around this time that Ithran was given protection in the form of a Saitodian member that he once knew in old Longvale, Yelena Haldress. The two found themselves becoming romantically entangled, bearing a child as heir to Ithran's fortune.
  Ithran still works as a hunter, considered well reknowned for his knowledge of powerful monsters, knowledge that he provides at a cost to adventurers and Convention members alike. When not actively studying the strange and unusual, he has taken up experimentation in his accelerating age, using the time he has left to study the anatomy and biology of these arcanely altered anomoloies.

Notable Relationships

Matron Evelyn Ashreign

A young archmage at the time that Ithran first came across the Evelyn, she had just been placed as the head of the Blackstone Keep. She acted as a key mentor in his study of the occult, and to the present is his primary contact within the Veritas Convention. While there was once romantic feelings from between the couple, particularly after his mercenary days, they have since realised that their romance was not to be and their relationship should stay strictly professional.

General Garda Nyasinth

Retired as a general even as she met Ithran, Garda was immensely skilled in the art of the blade. She used her knowledge to teach Ithran how to forge his own blades and utilise them most effectively. The kinship that developed between Garda and Ithran soured before he left the Blackstone Keep. While the nature of the relationship's devolution has remained a private matter for both, there has been kinder words spoken to mutual friends over the last few decades.

Yelena Haldress

A fervent member of the Saitodian, Yelena escaped the cursed Longvale alongside Ithran. They were close for many years, even with Yelena underwent the induction to becoming a Saitodian and having her psyche reshaped to match the groups will. In the past four years, she has romanced and married with Ithran, the two bearing a singular child that has been kept hidden from the leadership of the Saitodian so as to protect them from the harshness of that world.
