Covenates
Moving with both intense speed and precision, the seven bodies flourished in a quick moment, each seemingly controlled by a single thought, the destruction of Malkazar. They are a dark shadow that is aiming to brighten the world through whatever means they must.
The Covenates are a dark mysterious form of Occultists who gather together with the intent of disrupting dark magic users. They have only just started forming in Ossalimar to thwart some darker magic users in the various reaches of the continent.
Description
A collection of Covenates is a group of 7 Occultists, or occasionally Warlocks, who are typically empowered by each other. Each member of the Covernate submits to a ritual that allows the most powerful among them to control the entire collective to ensure their ability to act as a cohesive, but efficient unit. When combined as one collective, the Covenate is able to work as one unit, empowered and hastened by each other. Dark whispers portent the approach of a Covenate as well a powerful chill for the dark magic that is used to combine the minds together.

History
Since 682 AR, a few different Covenates have been formed, each created with a singular mission to take out a specific target who was working on dark mgaical practices. The first known Covenate was a collection of witches, demonologists, and an oracle who were tasked with taking out a rogue sorcerer known as Malkazar. They worked as one collective unit and released several captured prisoners from their lair, each tortured and forced to empower dark rituals.
Over the last 70 years, there have been a number of Covenate specifically designated to tackling dark liches, and shadow sorcerers from across the continent of Ossalimar. However, in recent years, with many Occultists becoming aware of the methodology, there have been some working to infiltrate and go against the work of Xhen-dra.
However, in the past 5 years, there has been reports of a Covenate that was under dark controls with a mission to take out other Covenates and Occultists working against their understanding. This hive mind seems to have originated from Xhen-dra, but are linked by a more strange aberrant connection of the world entirely.

She was chosen as the leader because of her immense knowledge of the required hemocraft to ensure that the ritual was successful, especially in its first implementation. While her Covenate were successful in destroying Malkazar, the toll of controlling that many people took an immense toll on the fairly young Telenya, leading to her death by 701 AR. |
| Borna Iltrakon | He/Him | Wood Elf Warlock. Borna was approached due to his specifically martial skill set and connection to a follower of Exa. It was discovered that the ritual allowed for the collective to share memories and understanding. Borna was useful for discerning to magical potential of his connection as well as granting an additional measure of protection to his Covenate. |
| Sharlana Barden | She/Her | Orc Oracle. Selected for one of the few failed Covenates, Sharlana was set to be a guide for group, guiding them with visions of the future. Throughout their mission, there was a constant distraction that seemingly forced Sharlana's visions to fail. This allowed the lich Ylanddir to slowly destroy each of the members of the Covenate. However, he left Sharlana alive with no memory of the events. She was eventually found wandering the plains of then Golden Vale and has been housed in the city of Grantour. |
