Shion Lycoris

Shion has long, thin limbs and his movements look like dancing branches in the wind. Shion has an ethereal, fragile appearance that contrasts sharply with the brutal effect of his blood demon art.

Paralyzing Blood: His blood has a sweet, floral smell, but can cause numbness even when inhaled.   Fire Immunity: Like all Demons, Shion possesses a natural immunity to standard flames.    Claws: Shion has powerful claws and is able to cut through solid walls.    Superhuman Stamina: Shion's healing factor grants him superhuman stamina and is partially immune to fatigue toxins generated by physical exertion and thus has greater endurance than normal Humans.    Night Vision: Shion, as a demon has Night Vision, allowing him to see in pitch-black conditions.    Superhuman Reflexes: Shion's reflexes are similarly enhanced and are currently about forty times greater than those of an ordinary human.    Superhuman Agility: Shion possesses enhanced levels of agility that are far beyond the natural physical limits of a human.    Fangs: Shion has a mouth full of razor-sharp fangs.    Superhuman Equilibrium: Shion possesses the ability to achieve a state of perfect equilibrium in any position imaginable. He seems able to adjust his position by instinct, which enables him to balance himself on virtually any object, no matter how small or narrow.   Superhuman Durability: Shion´s body is physically tougher and more resistant to some types of injury than the body of a normal human. His body is more resistant to impact forces than anything else.    Superhuman Strength: Shion possesses great strength, allowing him to lift heavy loads and combat foes that would otherwise overwhelm him. His physical strength also extends to his legs, enabling her to be able to push off the ground to jump great distances and heights.    Blossom of the Spider (蜘蛛の花 Kumo No Hana): Shion lets blood red threads shoot out of his body which unfold in a spiral like petals. Where the threads touch the ground or opponents, spider lilies will grow from the blood, whose pollen has a poisonous and burning effect. The more blood is shed, the more densely the net “blooms” until the enemy is completely surrounded. The spider lilies suck the blood from the ground or air (e.g. after injuries) and convert it into energy for Shion. Each “bloomed” lily increases his power or partially heals him. Enemy attacks that come into contact with his blood become a source of food.   Floristic Adaptation (植物の適応 Shokubutsu No Tekiō): The skin of Shion hardens into thick, resilient sheets of thorny bark and his arms or legs extend into vines to bind opponents.   Lily Storm (リリー・ストーム Rirī Sutōmu): Shion unfolds his art like a huge, blood-red spider lily made of threads. Anyone who gets caught in it experiences a kind of “last dance” as the threads rhythmically tighten like flower petals closing and tear through the body. Shion is at the center of the flower, he remains calm like the heart of a spider lily.   Sword Leaf Hail (剣葉雹 Kenba Hyō): Shion summons explosions of sharp-edged petals which spread a toxic mist of nightshade pollen.   Lycorine Rain (リコリンレイン Rikorinrein): Shion secretes blood, which immediately spreads into a heavy toxic mist. The rain association is caused by droplet-like precipitation that accumulates on the ground. The fog can become thick enough to block visibility and cause muscle cramps, visual disturbances, impaired balance, paralysis, breathing problems and slowed movements.   Bloom of Reincarnation (輪廻の花 Rin'ne No Hana): After being seriously wounded, Shion "withers" into a bunch of spider lilies, from which his new, changed body then "blooms".

His clothing is made from plant-like, fibrous "bark fragments" that grow from his body.

Shion was once the son of a respected herbalist. His family treated illnesses with plants, poisons, fungi, and experiments. When his beloved sister Ai became critically ill and could not be saved, Shion desperately tried to cure her with an experimental tincture of Lycoris radiata (spider lily). Ai died in terrible convulsions. Shion lost his mind. He began to "study" people, believing he could "reconstruct" Ai's condition. Since that night, Shion has believed that all living beings must go through the same cycle as his sister: blooming → suffering → death → rebirth.

Shion views humans as "wilting flowers" whose death is a natural process. He does not kill out of anger, but out of "care," because he believes that through death he "releases people from their suffering" and "returns them to nature."

Shion seeks perfect beauty in dying. He wants to create an "ultimate flower," a cycle of suffering that is full of energy and perfection.
