Those kerren who emerge in epicentre are altered by proximity to the changing wastes of the Desolation, losing their innate grasp of qi and growing pale-skinned and sickly. They are more than happy to integrate with humanic tribal structures, accepting the name halfling from their new tribemates.   The untainted kerren who emerge on the western continent mostly find their way to the western third, separated from the fast-growing Visavan Empire by a mountain range. They integrate with the ifrit and beastkin tribes there, becoming community leaders as they share their knowledge of qi, founding monastaries and taking on students.   Those kerren and halflings who surface on the southern continent are taken by the jungle.

It is revealed to be a great, twin-hulled ship born on feathered wings when it crashes into the water off Epicentre's south western coast. The occupants survive to meet the Drakekin salvage teams, and a few skirmishes are fought until Celera Swyf intervenes on behalf of the newcomers. She claims the newly arrived elves as her own to care for, and orders that they be treated with the same respect as the world's other sapient creatures.
