Starting off as a batting all-rounder, Nishi would eventually transition to wicket-keeping, since her school's team was often without one. However, she continued to bowl once every often in order to remain familiar with it. Once it came time for University, Nishi was actually offered a full ride scholarship for cricket to Bahadur Alamgir University in Kotch, Hindustan province. After that, she made her debut for the International side in 2005, at the age of 23, playing for a second-string ODI team against South Africa, which came directly after the World Cup that year. After that, she would work her way up to the main team, becoming a mainstay by 2008. Additionally, in 2008, Nishi would wed her husband, Ranveer Kapoor. Eventually, she would give birth to two daughters in 2011 and 2013, named Kashi and Dhara Kapoor respectively. Kapoor retired from T20s in 2015, citing that she wanted to spend more time with her family, especially her children.
