Maya is a woman of slightly above-average height. She maintains a small figure, and years of cricket have given her immense strength.

Maya has always had a small figure, although she was born with longer limbs, giving her a long reach during her time at the crease.

Personal history

Widely regarded as one of, if not the definitive best cricketers Nisha has ever produced, Maya Paracha was born on January 6th, 1984, to Aman Paracha, a Punjabi Hindu, and Soha Paracha (nee Zaidi), a Punjabi Muslim, in the city of Chandigarh, Punjab Province. Her Father, Aman Paracha, as well as her aunt, Nidhi Paracha, played cricket for a number of years, with the latter even leading the women's side in the 80's. So, with some encouraging from her aunt, Aman enrolled his daughter in a youth cricket program, just to expose her to the sport. Fortunately, cricket runs in the family, and she fell in love with the sport. Playing all throughout school, she would eventually come to play at Royal Rayshahr University, even leading her school to win the 2005 final, earning them the chance to play an ODI against the national team. Three days after that, on April 27th, 2005, Maya married her long-time boyfriend Sayant Paracha, who she had knows for 9 years. Soon, they their first child, a daughter named Gauri Paracha, who was born a mere 6 months before Maya's international debut. Later, in 2008, Maya gave birth to her second child, another girl named Kavya Paracha. In mid-2006, Paracha made her debut for the international side, for the first ever Nishari Women's T20 series, scoring a century in her second match. Paracha was named the official Vice-Captain of every format in 2011, with her taking the captaincy starting in 2012, with the T20 side. Maya has since retired from Tests in 2018 and retired from ODIs in 2021, although he continues to play T20s, with the dreams of one day playing a match with her daughter.

Paracha hit her maiden century in only her second match, which was Nisha's 5th T20 match, during their first series with England, meaning she hit Nisha's first T20 Century. Her score in this match came out to be 101*(53). Since then, Paracha has consistently hit centuries in every single format, often doing it at a breakneck pace. Her highest score was 246*(409), which came during a test match against South Africa in 2014. Including these score mentioned, as of December 18th, 2022, Paracha has scored 5 double hundreds, with 4 coming in Test Cricket, and 1 coming from ODI cricket. Additionally, Paracha has scored 70 centuries, with 30 of those coming from Tests, 33 coming from ODIs, and 7 coming from T20s. Paracha also has 177 fifties, with 55 coming from Tests, 52 coming from ODIs, and 70 coming from T20s.

Paracha is also a member of the team that won the 2013 Women's World Cup and the 2020 Women's T20 World Cup, as well as the Captain of the team that won the 2016 Women's World Cup.

Motivation

Maya's daughter, Gauri, is her main motivation. As the eldest person to still play cricket for her country, Maya continually wonders if she should give up and just retire at the age of 38. However, with Gauri being 16, Maya vows that, before she retires, she and her daughter will play in an international match together.  The friends that Maya has made over the years also remain sources of motivation. Within the world of cricket, Maya's closest friends are her former Vice Captain Dhara Bhatt and Nishi Kapoor.

Family Ties

Maya is the second cousin of Aamir Gujrana, the Khalip of Nisha. They grew up together and, despite the 12-year age difference, the two cousins remain very close. They grew up in the same city and spent a lot of their childhoods together. Paracha maintains a good relationship with her royal nieces and nephews, and visits anytime she is in Nishapur. Maya married Sayant Paracha in 2005, after having known each other since they were 12. The two are distant cousins, as their ancestors are from the same rural village, but their relationship is so distant that they might as well not be related. On her 22nd birthday, Paracha gave birth to the couple's first child, Gauri Paracha, just a mere 8 months before she made her debut for the Nishari national team in the women's first T20I series ever. Two years later, in 2008, Maya gave birth to the couple's second child, another girl, named Kavya.

Maya is also the niece of former women's cricketer Nidhi Paracha, who was the second captain of the side, helming the country's team from 1983-1987.

Religious Views

Basically the face of female empowerment of Nisha, Paracha has taken to worship of Shakti, believing that the primordial form of the universe was female, as the universe had to be born out of something.

Social Aptitude

During her days in the Vice-Captaincy and Captaincy, Paracha maintained a fairly public life, although she always tried to shield her children from that life. Paracha still occasionally performs interviews, although her media personality has declined since the days of her captaincy.
