Personal history
Arisha Sume was born on February 11th, 1979 to Roshan Sume, a bookbinder, and Uma Sume, a housewife. She is the youngest of 3 siblings, as well as the only daughter of the family. Growing up, her two older brothers, Akash and Arnav, were very interested in sports, with the former playing professional soccer for Nisha during the 1990's and 2000's, and this ended up rubbing off on Arisha. She would often play soccer with other kids in Varn, often playing as goalie for her team. Eventually, around the age of 9, Sume would start to become interested in Cricket, picking up the bat in 1989. She would learn to use her goalie skills in cricketing, often playing defensive innings and moving around the crease. In 1996, she graduated secondary school and went on to attend Vihara University, although she would drop out in 1999, citing a need to focus on sports and training, as well as domestic competitions. 3 years late, at 23 years old, Arisha made her national debut, scoring a century in the match. Her first world cup was the WODI cup in 2005, and, in 2009, Sume took the captaincy in all 3 formats from their respective captains. In 2006, Sume married Farhan Araki, and changed her last name to Sume-Araki, although she continued to be known just as Arisha Sume in professional settings. In 2008, the couple had their first kid, a boy named Parman. 2 years later, in 2010, the couple had their second child, a girl named Shayari. In 2012, after the conclusion of the T20 Women's World Cup, Sume handed off the T20 Captaincy to Maya Paracha, with the ODI and Test Captaincy going in 2014. Finally, Sume retired from International Cricket in 2016, at the age of 37.
