Witchcraft
Witchcraft, sometimes called Pact Magic, is an occult tradition of spellcasting that relies on a pact with a mysterious force, called a patron. Practitioners are called witches/warlocks.
Most patrons are vestiges. While deities can act as a patron, most would rather gift their magic to devotees, like clerics, and faith is more beneficial than having a mortal act as a temporary, shared vessel. Vestiges, on the other hand, often lack a large (or any) following or any sort of sustained physical form, and thus, are more likely to bargain with a witch/warlock.
A familiar will often act as a secondary conduit of the patron's power and/or a magical advisor.

Author's Notes
Witchcraft is based off the Pact Magic described for the D&D 3.5 Binder class. (See the Class Chronicles article or the Tomb of Magic book.) It is also more indirectly influenced by the magic used by the Pathfinder 1e Witch and the D&D 3.5 Warlock classes.
