Personal history

Miracle Under the Eclipse

Vergil was the stillborn baby of two human parents in the City of Dueling Lights, the capital of Soluna. As an eclipse centered over the city, his parents prayed to the island's two patron deities, Sol and Luna, for their son to be brought to life.   Both deities gifted Vergil with life as well as a portion of their divine power, each planning to mold him into one of their champions. Because their actions were simultaneous and their powers were equal during the eclipse, neither could fully claim him nor did one deity's gift fully overpower the other. Instead, Sol's gift of enhanced physique would manifest more prominently the closer the day was to noon and diminish as the night approached midnight, and vice versa for Luna's gift of enhanced cognition.   He was given the surname Soluna after the island and its two patron deities after they inconclusively bickered over which deity he should be named after.   Vergil spent his entire childhood pressured by most deities to perform more acts in one of the deity's honor, often aiding him through divine intervention. He quickly grew used to relying on his natural gifts and divine luck to succeed in life.

Champion of Soluna

When Vergil was old enough, he would frequently compete in the Clash of Dueling Lights, winning an equal number of challenges for both deities' teams. As he won practically every challenge whenever he competed, earning the title "Champion of Soluna."   Eventually, he was barred from participating in the competition. Official records claimed his gifts and favoritism from the patron deities gave him an unfair advantage over the rest of the competition, but he was actually banned because his contributions never benefited one deity's team over the other's.   He was then drawn to other olympian competition, competing in the name of his home island and each of his patron deities. However, he could never find consistent success due to the fluctuation of his powers.   This changed when Victor Eugene recruited him to be part of the home team for the Tournament of Victor E, which was stacked even more in his favor than the Clash of Dueling Lights. At this time, he started going by Vergil Victory.
