After retiring from adventuring and becoming a craftsman, Joe gave himself the surname Carver to avoid being identified with his past work.
Eventually, he became the supplier of vampire slaying stakes for Cold Stakes. He was eventually trusted with the method for creating freezing stakes, the guild's signature weapon.
In year 0, he was kidnapped by Brandi Dior.
