Alignment

Alignment is a soul's overall affinity toward different outer planes. While usually described based on behavioral tendencies and philosophies that would shape one's alignment, other factors such as conscious allegiance to a specific plane or entity or lineage can also affect it.

Categories of Alignment

Alignment is split into two categories: Moral Alignment and Ethical Alignment.

Moral Alignment

Moral alignment corresponds with one's treatment of innocent life.
  • Good: Good entities value the well-being of innocent life. They are compelled to help innocent creatures and to intervene when they are harmed.
  • Evil: Evil entities debase the well-being of innocent life. They are compelled to harm innocent creatures and to intervene when they are helped.
  • Neutral: Neutral entities have no opinion on the well-being of innocent life. They are not compelled to help or harm innocent creatures, nor are they compelled to intervene when others help or harm innocent creatures.

Ethical Alignment

Ethical alignment corresponds with one's relationship to authority.
  • Law: Lawful entities value authority and debase freedom. They are compelled to uphold overseeing authority and suppress personal freedom.
  • Chaos: Chaotic entities debase authority and value freedom. They are compelled to suppress overseeing authority and uphold personal freedom.
  • Neutral: Neutral entities have no opinion on authority and freedom and aren’t compelled to act for the sake of authority or personal freedom.
