A Guide to Kalin
Gears. Industry. And a world on the cusp of chaos.
Kalin is a land with a sordid history. Once controlled by a benevolent but nonetheless Imperial Elven Empire, the continent has seen countless wars and even massive demon invasion. And when The Return began, it began and ended in Kalin. It's history of war is also tainted with racial bigotry and supremacy. It is also the home of most Elven subspecies.
In the common day great powers control the continent, and have only recently avoided a war that threatened to engulf the entire continent in chaos. Though peace remaisn ever elusive...
In Kalin, technology is at the foremost of society. Technomancy, the practice of using technology to harness magical energy, is the law of the continent. Airships, airplanes, trains, and more are common. Guns and firearms are commonplace, with some brand new ones capable of unleashing dizzying amounts of bullets.
Further, magic is allowed, but controlled. All magic users must register with the proper authorities, or be hunted by the Schola Custodi.
Most people of Kalin worship The Mantle, though whether they worship the orthodox Church of the Mantle or follow the Supragens Movement is a matter of endless debate.
Mercenaries, criminals, soldiers, adventurers. There's plenty of ways to find a living in Kalin. Nearly all of them dangerous.
