Personal history

Rosalind Myers rose to prominence as the successor to Donald Lundee, taking over leadership of Militech following his death. Known for her political acumen and described as a proponent of peace, she played a critical role in the New United States of America’s post-Collapse recovery, pushing an interventionist and protectionist agenda while overseeing a rapid economic resurgence. Myers held the position of Militech CEO for nearly a decade before stepping down in 2065, handing the reins to Lucas Harford. That same year, she entered the political sphere more directly, being elected the third President of the NUSA. During her presidency, Myers launched an ambitious campaign for national reunification, proposing to extend federal control over the independent Free States under the pretense of restoring unity to the fractured nation. Although some territories agreed, most of the Free States resisted the plan. Undeterred, Myers initiated the Unification War in January 2069, shortly after her reelection, with Militech’s full backing. The conflict was aimed at forcefully annexing the remaining Free States.   By 2070, the NUSA had subdued most of the Free States and turned its attention to Night City. However, the city became a flashpoint in the war when Arasaka Corporation intervened, preventing a federal takeover. Faced with the risk of a broader global conflict and unable to fully crush the resistance, Myers signed the Arvin Accord in June 2070, which officially ended the war. While the accord stopped short of full annexation, it compelled the Free States to take a more active role in the federal system, with the exception of the Republic of Texas, which maintained its staunch independence.   By 2077, Myers was serving her third term as President. Public opinion about her in Night City was sharply divided; some viewed her as a corporate puppet and authoritarian figure with imperialist ambitions, while others pointed to the city’s rampant crime as justification for stronger federal control. That year, Myers ordered retaliatory bombings of airbases in Wellington and El Paso after suicide bombings at NUSA facilities in New Mexico and Oklahoma, escalating tensions with the Republic of Texas and pushing the region closer to open conflict. Internationally, Myers issued a public address regarding the influx of refugees fleeing the flooded Netherlands, though the content of her statement was not disclosed. Following the death of Saburo Arasaka, Myers publicly rejected his allegations that Militech and the NUSA were behind his demise, calling the accusations baseless and inflammatory. She made it clear that the NUSA and Militech remained committed to the Arvin Accord but would not hesitate to respond with full military force if provoked. At the 2077 Federalist Party convention, she declared her candidacy for a fourth term, adopting the slogan "A Return to Unity," reinforcing her ongoing push for national consolidation.   Later in 2077, during the events of Phantom Liberty, Myers found herself in mortal danger aboard the Space Force One spacecraft while flying above the Californian coast. Traveling with FIA agent Song So Mi and a crew of staff, the spacecraft was struck by a missile that forced it to crash-land over Night City’s Dogtown district. Communications were jammed, and the spacecraft was being actively hacked. So Mi, using a unique neural link with a mercenary named V, managed to guide them toward a vantage point as the crisis unfolded. Another missile hit the spaceplane, further disabling it. So Mi secured Myers in the spaceplane's saferoom, ensuring her survival, while she barely escaped in a lifepod. The escape pod landed on the eastern side of Dogtown, and the main crash occurred on the western side, setting off a major power struggle in the region and dramatically altering the balance of power both politically and militarily in Night City. This high-profile incident added another chapter to Myers’ legacy as one of the most consequential and controversial leaders in the history of the New United States of America.
