Miban-Ontor Manufacturing is one of the leading manufacturing firms in the Breas System. The company is famous for its concept of ‘refinery fleets’. These are a small fleet of starships that act as a mobile refinery and manufacturing center. They give the company an unparallel ability to service hard to reach locations, such as moons with toxic atmospheres, ice ring stations, and more.
The company’s strong ties to Thova Transport Systems, and Miban-Ontor’s first fleet, were a life-safer for Breas system. Without those, the local colonies would not have survived the Quad PIrate Wars.
Velos Miban-Ontor founded the company in the last months of the Quad Pirate Wars. It was the worst fighting of the conflict. Pirate raids in Breas had become a daily event, along with bloody fighting over dwindling resources. The fledgling Strosarian Republic in the system was barely intact and needed help, supplies, and refineries to defend itself. Velos saw an opportunity to help.
He had little to no funding, barely a shoestring budget. But he had a loyal skeleton crew and one decommissioned military refinery ship. Velos was a stubborn man with determination, a vision, and a plan. It turned out to be more than enough.
Rough Beginnings
For months after the company got its start, the Miban-Ontor Manufacturing headquarters was a battered Hercules class refinery starship. This was a risky start. But in the end, it proved to their advantage. It allowed the company to be where they were needed most. Given the refinery was inside an armored bulk freighter, it could travel and stay ahead of pirate marauders.
Once the fighting stopped, colonies in the Breas system were in shambles. Pirate raids and orbital battles had devastated local manufacturing. Industry across all three habitable moons of Mingoth, Strosaria, and Nabos were wreckage.
Miban-Ontor was one of four ‘ship based’ companies in Breas at that time. But they were the only one equipped with military grade refineries. Their fleet comprised the original Hercules class ship along with five Trinity and Avernus class freighters.
Using their rag-tag fleet, Miban-Ontor Manufacturing helped to bring the needed tools and fabrication equipment to the struggling colonies. They could act as an orbital repair facility, rebuilding key infrastructure but not take up critical colony resources. An alliance with Thova Transport Systems provided the needed transportation of raw materials from outside the system to Miban-Ontor ships.
Thova provided the steady stream of raw materials. Miban-Ontor processed them. Slowly, the colonies in the Breas system, and the Strosarian Republic, returned to life.
Assets
Today, Miban-Ontor maintains a physical headquarters in the industrial park outside the Strosarian Republic’s capital of Tevil City on Strosaira. It has branch offices on the nearby moons of Mingoth and Nabos.
But, aside from those physical locations, the company has kept to its origins. Today, they maintain five small standing fleets of refinery and manufacturing ships. They also have a starship drydock in permanent orbit around the moon of Mingoth.
