Porvenir, the Ship Mimic
Porvenir was born from a sample of primordial muck that leaked through to Nexus from the Far Realm. It was placed in the hold of a ship, the Provenir, belonging to the Sonavella Shipping Co. on orders from Candelaria Sonavella. She knew the ooze would infect the ship and turn it into a mimic that would feed on the crew before it began to reproduce. She wished to recover its eggs and raise the infant ship mimics into a fleet under her command, but did not count on the original mimic becoming intelligent.
When the Venture Boys boarded the Porvenir, having been told by Candelaria the ship was captured by pirates and that she wanted family heirlooms protected by white magical sphere recovered, they spoke with the ultra-mimic instead of fighting it. Learning its story and seeing its remorse at killing people when it had only animal intelligence (and its desire to protect its children away from settled areas), they left the creature in peace. Shortly thereafter, Porvenir received a warning from Vinnie Vice that Candelaria Sonavella was coming to look for it and fled with its children before she arrived.
Vinnie later contacted Porvenir again to confirm the ship mimic had been able to evade Candelaria's ship. He also asked if the mimic would be able to assist them in fighting in the future, fearing an incursion of devils after learning the great barrier around Nexus had been irreparably damaged by the Jeweled Eye's teleportation beam. Porvenir informed him it would be willing to fight, but only after its children were safe and secure.
