Talents
A world covered in magic, a generation of casting spells has led to the world affecting the unborn. This mutation has led to the creation of Talents' magic-like abilities that while variant person to person have fundamental laws that they obey. Humans with Talents have been shown to copy previous Talents but No two Shifter have the same Talent even if a similar Trigger event causes them.
- Law of Emotion: It seems that the emotion that caused the trigger event has some effect on the Talent that is created. Anger usually leads to one that decreases temperatures, Fear leads to movement-based effects, and Joy leads to darkness or negative aspect of the world. This system is not perfect just yet but due to the lack of traditional connection to how humans chart emotions. The Talent may be acting off a more primordial aspect of the mind unknown to humans so far.
- Law of the wish: The trigger event always starts with a wish as it is commonly known. The wish is usually a statement either physically spoken or thought about during a time of the extreme stimulus. How this wish is granted is unpredictable a child wishing for the power to be unseen would logically presume some kind of stealth power but cases have shown it leads to creating Hyper bright flares, clones with the difference in appearance, and causing an aura of blindness around the user. From research, the effect becomes more predictable at later stages of life usually reaching 90% predictability at 18, but due to how often children accidentally gain talents this field of research is slowly going.
- Law of Understanding: From watching and speaking with Shifters before the War, I have been able to gather that one can actually modify or even change what their Talent is if they understand the triggering event to a high degree. The only aspect that cannot be changed is the wish, but as long as the wish is being fullied ever the Talent does not matter. Though due to how hard it is to judge one own memory without allowing time to affect your view this may be beyond human use for now.
- Law of Secondaries: While I can confirm only two cases of this and found no other ones, I do believe attempting to gain a secondary talent is a field we should avoid at all costs. the condition of near death may at first seem reasonable for the higher up but it is the type of death I have issues with. The experience required must meet three of the following conditions
- The body is used: the subject body must be in a state of extreme chemical stress, such conditions as being eaten alive as the predators saliva causes the body to react, the user is about to be forced to attempt mating, the structure of the brain is broken.
- The subject is broken: If a secondary trigger event is to occur the target has to be in a state of mental distress before anything else, loss of a family member, or a close-knit community all these will not lead to the needed levels of distress. The one I was able to understand the subject was not only rejected by their family but then forced to flee their home all the while being assaulted physically and mentally by magic and weapons their body was scarred heavily by this and any kind of physical contact resulted in a full mental breakdown.
- The subject must resist death: This one may seem to be the easiest to achieve but all the other parts of this lead to this one being nearly impossible bring up the subject from before they had chosen to live because they wanted to kill their parents. they had hatred for them that burned within their heart at the last moment as their body was being toyed with.
- The subject body is in extreme physical condition: All secondary Talents so far have led to the massive mutation of the physical body. One of which is the user's skin is a two-way gateway into a pocket dimension, they use this fact as a way to prevent physical contact wanting to never be a part of this world. Or at least they didn't want to be for a time. The few others I have seen try and achieve a secondary talent have all died due to this as their bodies couldn't handle the changes from my calculations a million or more calories are burned during this process and the body puts out so much heat that some organs may simply be destroyed.
- Law of strength: there are currently 5 levels of strength to talents the higher one goes the more dangerous the talent becomes not in terms of raw power but in how efficient or in some other aspect. the weakest are called Basic talents and are the most common type of talents they can affect the user or up to 5 meters around them at the most. Next is advance which can affect areas of 20 meters or less or can be used much faster than basic talents. Ultra talents are the last of the three common varieties if you can call 12 percent of the population common these are the level of Talent most heroes have but not the upper... Except for Extraordinary Ultra. Will not fill the upper levels of hero society. Next, we have Supreme talents these Talents can affect entire cities or vast areas or be used millions of times in seconds to seemly create a variable storm of effects. These talents only happen in about 1 percent of the population and those few are not given much option in the fields they can go into due to such powerful things not being allowed to be wasted. Finally, we have the Reality class which from all records shows no pure human has been able to achieve so far, due to this I cannot say what kind of limitation but I have the following facts. Only another reality class can negate the effects of another, reality will negatively affect their users as the natural protection the other levels have seems to have disappeared in exchange for more power. All known reality class users have been active parts in starting wars or ending them in a short amount of time. they are to be viewed as the highest level of threat and under no circumstance should they be forced into a situation where a single mistake can cost the country involved life not simply its people.
