Edd Bechdel
When Lutol was still a merely a village, the Canterlund Gap was feared as a place of ungodly horrors and was avoided at all costs. But those early folk who respected the natural land and ventured into its depths came upon healing springs and wonderous minerals and gemstones. These rumors spread quickly aboveground and a few brave souls went down into the Gap seeking these [??].
Such was the case of Edd Bechdel whose daughter, Madder, had been born with twisted, useless limbs. Edd, a rare athiest, refused to bring her to the church in Cantra for healing and so his wife left him, believing the cursed daughter a consequence of his hubris.
Madder's condition grew worse as she grew and Edd sought ever more drastic cures.
